What's The Last Movie You Watched? VIII - Part 3

Just saw 4 new movies for 2011.

Black Death - The story, production, setting and lead actor enticed me to see it. Despite the reviews that I've read about it (Partly due to the ending) i was very satisfied with the movie. Surprised by a couple of scenes it lead me to appreciate the movie all the way to the end.

P.S.. This movie is not for everyone. People of strong religious beliefs should probably stay away:o...See A.

Kung Fu Panda 2 - Just as good as the first. Even though you knew what the outcome was going to be i still thought it was a decent movie. The villain really had cliche emotional issues but i still though he was bad ass. The voice actor was a great choice as well whomever he was...

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - I don't really have much to say about it. I liked it just like the last 3 but it felt a little long. I think its a very well done series so there isn't anything else i could say other than i was satisfied with this installment in the series. Looking forward to the next one...

Vanishing on 7th Street - Going into it i didn't know what to expect, which is what attracted me to it because the commercials made it seem like some kind of crazy sci fi movie. It had a great a great start but when it got to the very last scenes it slightly disappointed me because it reminded me of the ending to 'Knowing':o..See B.

A. Agreed, I see where the ending could have really turned people off but I was okay with it.

B. This movie turned out to be better than I thought, but then again I didn't know very much about it going in.

8 or 9/10

First X-Men movie I've seen, absolutely loved it. Want to see the other four, now.

You can skip Wolverine and X3. Though X2 ends on a cliffhanger, but sadly it is one that is never satisfyingly resolved because Singer left and was replaced with hacks. But X1 and X2 are certainly worth watching.

Intolerable Cruelty

8/10

The Coens put a funny and unique spin on the classic style romantic comedy. Not as deep as most of their other films, but still quality material.

Resident Evil

Eh, it was okay I guess. 6/10

X-Men: First Class

Second view. Words can't describe how happy this movie makes me.

Shrek: Forever After

Not bad, not great. Totally decent.

6/10.

I'll see them all eventually, even if X3 and Wolverine aren't the better movies. I'm always a completist when it comes to an entire movie series, I never feel satisfied unless I've seen every single movie in a series.

Inland Empire is probably one of the most insane movies I have ever watched but I loved every second of it. Two and a half hours of nearly incomprehensible Lynch weirdness. I really hope that he makes another movie soon.

I love Lynch but Inland Empire really didn't anything for me.

X-Men and X2 you won't be disappointed with, but imho they're not as good as First Class, but imho it's the best or arguably the best Marvel movie to date. But as others have said, X-3, depending who you talk to can be horrendous, bad, okay, or really good. With most leaning towards the negative. Wolverine....eh...I guess it could have been as bad as Elektra.

It's really great to see the Hype united in their love of a new superhero movie. Hasn't been like this since the Iron Man/TDK double whammy in 2008.

X-Men: First Class. Awesome movie. I think its better then the rest. I almost feel like this script could of been for the XO: Magneto. He stole the show.

I have a strong religious belief, but still enjoy some movies against religion, don't give that when criticizing

I enjoyed X2 better than FC...it had more mutants I cared about

The reception I gather seems to be that the first X-Men is good, X2 is better and the best, X3 is poor and the worst of the bunch and Wolverine has a mixed reception, not horrible but not good, either. FC seems to be neck and neck with X2 as the best-received movie. But I'll give the other four a look sometime and decide for myself.

On the subject of a Magneto origin movie,

I don't think it's really necessary after FC. I think everything that could've been done in a Magneto origin was pretty much covered in FC. In some ways FC was pretty much a Magneto Begins movie as was, even though it did a pretty good job of focusing on most of the other mutants.
