Transformers: Dark of the Moon

reposting my bullet points from the lounge...

The first 10 or so minutes was excellent with it being in the 60s. Once the those 10 minutes were over, the first act was dogs***, terrible lines with trying way too hard with the humor just like the previous film. It's sad that (though I expected it) the people in the theater apparently was laughing so hard that they probably think it was the funniest thing they ever saw. The new chick was stale and it made me miss Megan Fox because of consistency of the series. The only human character that I liked was John Turturro because he is f***** John Turturro. The assassin Decepticon (don't know the name) was great when he was taking down that one person. That was my favorite scene in the film.

Once it start getting going in the middle and final act it finally got interesting. Sh** blows up and the building scene was pretty well done and it made me want to play Uncharted 2 again. The final was pretty lackluster though, I was expecting more and then out of nowhere THE END. I saw this in 3D and while it wasn't amazing it did have some incredible shots in 3D.

5.5 or 6/10

I see as I scrolled further up that you have already destroyed my shallow reasons to see this Figs.

Hahaha! I don't care either way, I have a mean one for Monica. I'll watch her in just about anything.

4/5

Probably the 5th time watching The Original Transformers Movie from the 80's. I have to say it will be the best Transformers movie they could ever make. If its rebooted right and has a better director I hope the next line of Transformers movies can stand next to the animated one.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon- second time theatrically

Rewatch time before, "It All Ends"

10/10

Celebrated it's 20th anniversary today by watching it.

Gladiator

Love this movie more and more every time I see it.

But I would've loved if it actually ended with Maximus raiding Rome with 5,000 soldiers as teased.

5/5

All Star Superman

Wow, just wow. Incredibly emotional film. DC can not stop knocking these out of the park!

5/5

John Carpenter's The Ward

Meh. I'd say I was disappointed, but I wasn't really expecting much. Amber Heard is just not a very good actress, the writing was thin, and they hit just about every insane asylum cliche in the books that we've seen a million times before. The score by Mark Kilian was by-the-numbers (a little piece of me has died in realizing I'm probably never going to hear a new John Carpenter score) and the "twist" can't help but remind of better movies. Worst of all, it's just not scary. Too many damn cat scares and not enough of that Carpenter atmosphere that I miss so much.

Black Death with Sean Bean ( awesome as always )
7/10 => good dark medieval movie.

I always try to watch this every year on July 4th to mark the occasion. Still holds up 15 years later as a very fun and entertaining movie that's perfect Summer movie fare. Makes me miss the movie Summers of the 1990s.

6.5/10

mildly enjoyed it. action sequences were pretty sweet.

Spider-Man 2-9.5/10- Still my favorite of the trilogy and Doc Ock is just so cool in this.

Deathly Hallows: Part 1 - 5/10

Huh, I liked this in theaters. Harry, Ron, Hermione left to themselves in a moral forest amounts to boring territory, and the whole of the movie doesn't make much sense to me. Why are they on their own? If Harry's the prophet, wouldn't it make sense to send other wizards with them? David Thewlis's character and others made such a big deal out of his protection before and after the aerial battle, so why does he just send them off during the wedding's ambush? It might make make sense admist the confusion, but it never felt like they were in total danger there. Hell, why have a wedding -- or any showy ceremony -- in the first place when their land is being taken over by evil? Also, why is the Griffindor Sword just sitting in a pond? Questions bugged me throughout and I couldn't get much enjoyment out of it. Maybe I'm pushing suspension of disbelief, but I think there are serious story issues that needed revision. Though, I could be at fault, too. Nothing makes much sense to me either way.

As the franchise goes on, the color palette fades, villains resemble Robert Smith and the emotion is meandering. Eh, this "maturity" is pretty ironic. I think the Lord of the Rings movies had great attention to character, but if you aren't Harry Potter or the other two, you're a weak subordinate. Dobby's resummoned here only to make for a cop out getaway and stimulate the most sentimental instincts in the audience. His arc is transparent like this franchise's universe, at least what it's turned into over the past few movies. I enjoyed the Kafka, Orwell ministry, but it's...weird. Can't the wizarld world have enough common sense to learn from humanity's past? They all must have a copy of Brazil around or something.
