What's The Last Movie You Watched? XIII - Part 11

Haha thanks! :awesome: And indeed we watched Deadfall. Two of my friends and I (who like me, are huge Cage fans) watched it a few weeks ago along with Vampire's Kiss (my second time watching it) and Season of the Witch in one night. Friday nights are Cage nights.

We made a pact to watch all of Nic Cage's films by the end of the semester. We even started a "Nic Cage Lives" and "Nic Cage Dies" lists. Separate lists. The "Dies" list is winning so far.

My Cage rating for Deadfall was a 9 due to Cage dying too soon. After he died, in came Charlie Sheen with a pointless pool table scene and a man with a mechanical claw for a hand... but the glorious moments when Cage is one screen is hilariously entertaining. Some of his best freakout work.

We've watched all of his infamous crazy films though. Now we just gotta work our way up our Netlfix queue. There's even a "Cage Your Queue." :awesome:

We're also taking advantage of a Blockbuster dollar rental per week.

Very cool man, it's a great idea. Cage is the man.

Speaking of which...

Knowing. Wow, I really, really, really enjoyed this film. Some of the imagery is just mind blowing (tracking shot of the plane crash OMG). Understated but great performance by Cage. Genuinely creepy in parts. Love the ending. I just love the whole concept of this movie. It's cool that the beings that save the chosen ones are ambiguous too. You can believe they are angels, or you can believe they are aliens. Or you can believe they are both.

One of the best sci fi films i've seen in a long time.

The Adventures of Tintin

A stunning movie with some great motion capture performances. I really enjoyed how detailed they made the movie and I thought the story had a lot of great adventure. I haven't read or watch Tintin so I knew very little about it besides the look of Tintin. My favorite moment has to be the chase in Morocco, hands down and I wish I saw this in 3D.
9/10

Knowing is of course on our list too. I'm curious about that plane crash scene where that flaming guy is screaming and running past Cage and he just yells, "HEYY!"

Glad you liked it. I thought I was the only one hahaha.

Winter's Bone- It was okay, don't get what all the appeal was.

Drive 8/10 It was much better on my second viewing. I really enjoyed it

I didn't know that was ever considered. A spin-off about Wahlberg's character, maybe?

Yes. According to Wahlberg, it would've been about Dignam taking on a corrupt politician, but when Bill Monahan tried to pitch it to Warners, it fell flat and they didn't want to do it. So it's not happening.

Ripley's game- 9/10
Probably John Malkovich's best role to date, he was both cold blooded and sociopathic yet also incredibly charming.

Playing L.A. Noire's The Naked City case got me in the mood to watch this again. A good movie that mixes between a police drama and film noir. One thing that the production trying to strive for is authenticity, and they accomplished it since they filmed the movie in the real New York instead of using sets. It is one aspect that makes the film stand out and another is its visual style, very realistic and the narration gives off a vibe of a semi-documentary, its influence on later films of similar genre are noticeable.

4/5

Disturbing but engrossing story of a couple portrayed by Kelly Reilly and
Michael Fassbender headed to a remote area for a romantic weekend, but come across a pack of sadistic teens and end up in a brutal, bloody ,nightmare. Not for the faint of heart.
Give me a crowded city and a big hotel anytime!!
Scale of 1-10 a 9

Safe House. Decent but so predictable.
