@Sgt.Pepper: Simply beautiful. The first version I've seen that feels lived in, as opposed to the distancing (to me) Masterpiece Theater-style--fine as that is--the way Arnold takes a very naturalistic approach with the material. Without sentimentality she captures Catherine's and Heathcliff's (and Hindley's) cruelties, Isabella's slight foolishness, and makes them seem human and not like caricatures of (in my opinion) previous versions.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

HOW DID IT GET BURNED?! HOW DID IT GET BURNED?! :oldrazz:

"You little liars. And you're the biggest liar of them all!"

The Wicker Man is so hilariously bad it borders on genius. I sometimes think they intended it to be the way it is. And if they did? Yea, genius.

I'm pretty sure it was meant to be serious. It had kind of a good idea going for it. I liked how they changed the story from the original. But Jesus, man, hilarity ensues instead.

Also, the double nightmare sequence may be one of the funniest things ever.

"God... dammit!"

I just love how Cage wakes up. :funny:

CHRONICLE

At some time in life a person ponders,or wishes they had superpowers.
If i could fly,see through walls, move objects with my mind. What would i do with such powers?
This is the main question that's answered when powers are bestowed upon 3 teens in Seattle. The 3 schoolmates :the picked on and abused Andrew (Dane DeHaan),
his cousin the book smart, conceited to cool for the room Matt (Alex Russell) and the popular Steve (Michael B. Jordan) happen upon a sinkhole in the woods that contains aliens(?)or a radioactive meteorite(?) in the woods. They venture in and emerge with superpowers.
DeHaan ,(who reminds me of a young Leonardo Dicaprio circa Whats eating Gilbert Grape),as Andrew videotapes himself,Matt and Steve, their growing powers, their pranks, the elation and joy of discovering what new powers that develop daily, and the danger of having such powers..
At times the video tape element hinders the film,it is the films blessing and curse.
But when its a blessing and when Director Josh Trank and writer Max Landis
slickly use other means to view the exploits of the teens. Its absolutely incredible to watch. It's what made another "videotape" film Cloverfield so entertaining.
I also like that the film alludes to other films like Firestarter and Akira.
It will be interesting to see what they come up with if there's a sequel.
Scale of 1-10 an 8

That's great to hear. I'm a big fan of Andrea Arnold's work and I can't wait to see her take on the novel.

Captain America: The First Avenger

This remains, to me, one of the standards of summer blockbuster cinema. It's fun, it's got a good story, the characters and acting are fantastic across the board, the relationships between the characters are warm and believable, they actually talk to each other like people than make DECLARATIVE STATEMENTS at each other. Of course the action is fantastic too!

4/5

John Carpenter's The Fog

One of my favourite horror movies. I'm not a fan of the genre, I could probably list roughly a dozen of them I liked. It just oozes with atmosphere and it's so expertly shot and framed.
