Whedon's Moving to Cabin in the Woods

^ August I do believe.

Just saw this again at the local cheap show. I saw it for free shortly before its release in April. Definitely holds up to a rewatch.

also Hypestle: Guy with the puzzle-ball is named Fornicus, Lord of Bondage and Pain (seriously its in the credits) and yeah he's probably a play on Pinhead.

Also they've revealed in interviews that Kevin is a mild mannered Best Buy employee who kills people on the weekends.

yeah kevin was one of drew goddards idea's I believe, and it was one of his favorites, but it wound up getting scrapped for the final product, not sure if it was filmed at all, it was in the script though (I bought and read the official visual guide for the movie, which has the screenplay with notes from whedon and goddard, as well as indepth interviews with those two and the stars and the make-up/ creature effects people. it's a really awesome read).

When is this coming out on DVD?

Not soon enough! :o

He most definitely a play on Pinhead.

Sounds awesome.

I missed this when it was out in theatres, so I can't wait for the dvd. Isn't there a companion book for the movie too?

Look what I found.:yay:

Awesome! What does it say after Alien Beast, Bio what? Werewolves, vampires, and deadites! Do we get to see them in the movie? I'd like to see a Whedon/Goddard vampire movie, and a werewolf movie. Oh, and Sexy Witches please be sexy, lol. Do those titles after the names come into play in the movie, do they mean anything in terms of the movie or what?

I haven't heard of one, but it would be an awesome extra.

Probably Biology, as the blue writing are departments.

Yes to werewolf, I can't remember any vampires or deadites being shown, but they may be in the background at a certain point.
We got a Sam Rami demon movie, now I'd love to see a Rami/Goddard vampire movie, and a werewolf movie. Oh, and Sexy Witches please be sexy, lol. Do those titles after the names come into play in the movie, do they mean anything in terms of the movie or what?
You do know Sam Raimi did not direct this, right?
They do have a purpose in the movie yes, spoilers following
the college kids are meant to be sacrificed and the board is to keep track of the departments betting on how the kids choose to be sacrificed.

yep, the offical visual guide, which like mentioned before is an awesome read. as an aspiring screenwriter, whedon is definitely somebody I need to study if I want to do it right lol.

I think I'm just thinking of the visual guide book for the movie. It'd still be a great extra for all the interviews, and behind the scenes extra's.

Yeah I know, lol, I meant Joss Whedon, lol. My bad man. These guys just understand these movie genres so good, I'd like to see more movies like this from them.

Oh, okay, that makes sense about the blue writing, thanks. I hope the dvd comes with a commentary, because it'd be great to hear what they have to say about their story ideas, and everything else.

Yep, that's it, the visual guide. Is it a a long read or relatively quick? I'd really be interested in all their story ideas, and all of that. These guys know how to do a great film, so their insight would be an awesome read.

i read it in about two days, that includes the screenplay, granted I didn't put it down very much.

...not sure what a sequel would mean unless it were to simply be a prequel and they chose to "play it straight" with a plot based one of the creatures on the list.. I'm not sure what would be added to include The Organization in the plot again..

they could just do a sequel with people trying to survive the end of the world, like I doubt the world just blacked out of existence, it's still there, just with giant lovecraftian gods running around and an army of nightmares loose on the population.

A dystopian setting with Lovecraftian gods? Count me in.

The Facebook page just announced that this will be out on dvd and blu on September 18th.

This is a must buy for me. Haven't had that much fun at a horror movie in years!

finally saw it. It was okay. I liked every pretty much, except it felt too short to me (although it had a standard running time) and i dont really like the ending.

I'd watch it again, but I'd probably not buy it

Yeah I saw it for the first time a few days ago. The last 30 minutes when all of the monsters are released was ****ing awesome. I keep on replaying that part and I love to identify all of the different monsters that were hinted at or mentioned earlier in the movie.

I didn't get to watch this while it was playing in theaters. I finally saw it a few days ago and it is ****ing awesome.

Holy Baby Jesus, this movie was just unbelievably incredible. Just the right amount of humor to keep it scary.

Finally saw this, OH MY GOD!

Whedon never misses lol

Dont know about sequel possibilities but I could DEFINITELY see them doing a prequel. Show some of the other rituals they have done in the past. We might not get the ending with the victims finding out about the complex underground but as long as they switch between the Horror and Comedy it should be great

As genre smashing as Cabin in the Woods is, I think a prequel or a sequel or a whatever is antithetical to its mission statement. It's perfectly self contained. The prequels already exists. Just take you pick of any of a thousand different horror movies. This is a film the revels and adores horror movie tropes whilst also burning them to the ground. Squeezing it for another movie would just cheapen it.

Finally saw it, i don't think it need a sequel or a prequel, yeah, it left me wanting more but all the other slasher movies are almost like prequels to this, and i doubt a sequel would be as good as the original, it would be just another post apocaliptic movie, and it would need a bigger budget, if you want to know how the world is after the monsters were released i think that Angel: After the Fall serves as a good example.
