When did the Hype become such a bad place to visit...?

I thought all the posters as mentioned in the first post where only in the bat-boards? I haven't had any problems like that, really.

I have frequented the boards for a few years know and some of you may know me. I went through a period where I didn't post and now I came back.

Since coming back I've been met with nothing but hostility from posters, such as 'my opinion is ****', and ' i don't count for ****'. I remember a time where we could rip each other and have laugh but now it just seems it how nasty can you be to someone. Just not really the hype I remember.

hahahahahahaha! That was me, and I still stand behind that statement. When you try to come off all high and mighty because someone, some random anonymous person on the internet wishes Britney Spears was dead and you come in with your "I can't condone that!" I find it my responsibility to knock you down to reality and remind you that you don't count for **** and whether you condone it or not is irrelevant.

Welcome back!:boba:

Good ol' Darthphere.

It's better to be proactive with these things, just like politics. The Hype equivalent of the New Hampshire primary (read: next 'how do I talk to this girl', 'I hate living with my parents', 'random whiny *****', etc. thread) should be right around the corner.

And I'll be there, to make the Hype a bad place to visit.

It's difficult to tell if you're welcoming me back :D

And again we're all entitled to opinions - just as a question, does your opinion count for anything?

Its sucky to share your opinion and be flamed for it, esspecially if its not what the majority thinks. Great things have come from people whos thoughts and actions break the mold.

Yeah I just came back to the Hype after a lengthy break...And I'm kinda discouraged. Doesn't seem to be any good threads, and I don't have any idea who these people are. I think a lot of people got name changes!

Dig up the "Official Hype Old Farts" Thread on page 2 or 3...

It's a place just for people like us! :D

EDIT: Bumped it for ya ;)

People who flame others over a difference of opinion haven't realized yet that the world doesn't revolve around them and their views. I'd just shrug off their comments and chalk it up to good old-fashioned immaturity. :yay:

Alternative viewpoints are important--they help to prevent "groupthink."

If I'm ever President, my cabinet will be stocked with conservatives. But, I know an atheistic, liberal pseudo-communist that I would really want on my cabinet to prevent a groupthink. I used to work with her, and not only is she extremely intelligent, she's not afraid to disagree with me. I value both of those qualities in others.

I've lurked around this message board since just before Ang Lee’s HULK was released in 2003. I registered under another screen-name then, so I'm able to prove it.

I saw this giant change during the arrival of the 2006 posters. I've been reading the boards since Spider-Man Hype! and posters would always respect each other and they continued to, even through 2005 and a lot of 2006 but then a lot of posters came and a lot of the older posters changed and there have been loads of *****e bags running around flaming each other now.

I actually agree. I think it started in 2006 due to the then upcoming releases of X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and SUPERMAN RETURNS.

The batboards are missing all the glory that was Spiderfreddie. *le sigh*

I miss him! Do any of you remember Mr. Parker (or was it Miss Parker)?

I think that was Pre-Ang... I don't remember seeing that but it sounds pretty similar to the first TDK one :(

Yes, it was released in July 2004 and played before some screenings of THE VILLAGE; it actually featured some footage, though.

Being mean is cool, being nice is boring. Didn't anyone ever teach you that, man? :o

This site has always had a-holes. When I joined in the summer of 2002, Tuki and Blight were active members. It's like I said earlier...1) there's more people and 2) you're just getting older. What you thought was funny a few years ago comes across as immaturity now.

True enough. But we don't all grow out of that unfortunately.

I'm glad this thread got made. It's a shame that there are people on Hype who act like total *****ebags. When I first came to Hype, I started bringing people in because I thought it was a cool site. Then all the people I brought started getting attacked by d*cks and now they think Hype sucks. I can't honestly say that I blame them. Had I recieved the same welcome THEY did, I'd have some bad words for Hype, too.
