When will Marvel get their video games franchises in order?

What game should Marvel make?

  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3/X-men Legends 3

  • Daredevil

  • Silver Surfer

  • A proper Avengers game

  • A Shield game

  • Lego Marvel Universe

  • Something else

  • I'm happy with the way things are

Not sure where to post this but since we talk about cartoons and telly shows here I figured it's as good a place as any to talk about games.

So why can't Marvel make a decent video game? Is it because they're a part of Disney who also make pretty boring games. How is it that DC can make Batman Arkham Asylum and then move onto the DC online and yet the best Marvel can make is "Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions" (a game that doesn't even use the same sandbox style as in previous Spider-man games) and "Superhero squad online" (yeah, seriously).

Why are they focusing so much on other media and yet performing so terribly in video games?

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 is pretty good. They downsized the budget and MUA 2 was a disappointment

We need a Daredevil game extremely badly. One with free roam like the Spiderman II game would be amazing.

A follow-up to The Punisher game would be nice...

A follow-up to The Punisher game would be nice...

Yeah, the fact that they never did a sequel to that game confuses me. From what I recall it did very respectable sales wise. I would love it if Rockstar Games did a Punisher game.

And The Punisher: No Mercy was dog ****.

Uhh... Marvel has a better track record with video games than DC does. The X-Men Legends series, the Ultimate Alliance series, the Activision Spider-Man games, the Marvel vs Capcom games, etc. DC has what? Arkham Asylum and DCU Online?

Or are we all goldfish and can only remember what's happened immediately beforehand?

I want an amazing, free roaming, dark, epic, and all around kick ass Ghost Rider game...

Punisher 2 would be great. Loved the first game.
Lego Spider-Man is something i wish we got, based off the movie series.
I thought Ultimate Alliance 2 was better than the first one, and would love a third.
An X-Men Legends 3 would be nice.
Daredevil could also make a fantastic game.

The Punisher game is hands down the best Marvel game ive played... Ultimate Alliance series isnt bad either...oh and MvC series is damn good.

Marvel has a way better track record gaming wise then DC.In the last ten years we got

Spider-man and Spider-man 2:Enter Electro on PS1
X-men Legends 1 and 2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
The Punisher
Hulk:Ultimate Destruction
Spider-man 2 the movie game
X-men Origins:Wolverine

While all DC has had is Justice League Heroes and Batman:Arkham Asylum

Stupid Question: I wanted to know the rights situation for Marvel games...how does it work? With Capcom doing Marvel vs Capcom 3, does Capcom have the rights to the comic versions of characters, and isn't SEGA publishing games for the movie-verse (Iron Man, Thor, etc.)? So are the comics, film, and other media versions of the characters kept seperate when it comes to games?

I also want to see a good sequel to Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction...and I hope the guys who made X-Men Origins: Wolverine do another Wolverine game.

For me its MUA 3. I liked the first 2 games and would live a 3rd

-A free roam Marvel Knights game.Tell me that wouldn't be EPIC.
You could play as Ghost Rider,Punisher,Daredevil,or Moon Knight.
-MUA3(Of course)
All of the characters from MUA2 plus maybe 20 more? Also cheat codes wouldn't impede
-X-Men:First Class
Based off the comic, not the movie
The Playable characters would be-Cyclops,Jean Grey,Beast,Angel, and Iceman. Each one of them has a different gameplay type. All in 3rd person. Cyclops would have a blast ability(no limit on smaller blasts) in addition to fighting. Jean Grey would have levitating powers(Like Force Unleashed). Beast's levels would be a mix of B:AA(Fighting) and Spider-Man(crawling/jumping). Iceman would have ice slides/blasts/weapons. All of Angels levels would be in the air with someparts on the ground. Online play would have 5 player Co-Op against hordes of Sentinels.
-Lego Marvel Universe!
Instead of episodes like the Star Wars games,There would be different MU teams you could choose. Each one of them would have six different levels.

:awesome:

A formal Avengers game with Loki, The Masters of Evil, Ultron and KANG!

X-Men Legends 3 and x-men legends 1 and 2 remake for PS3

Want it so badly...I guess I'm one of the few who didn't enjoy the Ultimate Alliance series as much as the X-Men Legends Games....

Since i don´t have a ps2 nor the other consoles needed for X-men legends 1 i really want a remake of them and a 3rd too, i played legends 2 and it was really cool, but i also want to have the experience of the first game events.

They must make Marvel: ultimate alliance 3. The first one was good, the second one was funny. I'd love to see Punisher in the cast.

They must make, also, a Daredevil's game. It will be good.

Or yes, also a Punisher II.

(Not bad the idea of a Marvel Knights' game)

We won't be seeing a MUA3, unless Capcom does it. The reason the MUA2 dlc was originally taken down was because Capcom has the rights to do massive Marvel cross-over games like that.

This Activision guy on Twitter (Oneofswords) mentioned something about how he's excited for MvC3 & how he's glad Capcom allowed the MUA2 dlc to be put back up, I just put two & two together.

So Activision has Spider-Man solo & X-Men solo, Sega has Avengers solo & Capcom can do the whole Marvel Universe.

I personally want a Deadpool game, Punisher game, Daredevil game (the last 3 should be free-roam), Avengers (comic based please) & X-Men Legends 3.

I looked at the website of oneofswords and I came across this

http://oneofswords.com/2010/07/marvel-ultimate-alliance-2-dlc-returns/

It appears that the DLC was always meant to be limited time only and it was not advertised properly.

Marvel can license out their franchises in different ways to spread them around.

Capcom has the fighting game license to the whole marvel universe (previously held by EA). Activision has the license for Action-RPGs(Legends/Alliance games).

So each company is free to use all the characters they want unless there is some agreement in another license that prevents them from doing so. I am pretty sure Capcom/Activision couldn't do something like movie Thor/Cap costumes in MvC3/MUA2 since those licenses are currently held by SEGA.

Back to the subject at hand though.

I, too, am confused as why there isn't a sequel to the Punisher game. It was very well designed and executed. A lot of thought was put into the levels/locales. Cover was there when appropriate and made you think about your surroundings. Then lets not forget the environmental kills. The games difficulty progressed accordingly and really pushed you to the edge (especially the Yakuza level).

I would like to see Deadpool/(Wesley Snipes)Blade games in the same vein as the Punisher game in terms of tone. I guess something more along the lines of a Dante from Devil May Cry (Dante wasn't too over the top if you were just using Ebony and Ivory with Rebellion) may be a good jumping off point since many people know it and doesn't make it hard to imagine the ability to switch from guns to swords.

THQ still owns the Punisher rights & it's p***ing me off. They're not doing s*** with the license.

Before Arkham Asylum we had Spider-man 2, so whatever.

X-men Legends and Ultimate Alliance are all awesome games.

Deadpool should get his own game. A game that incorporates both melee weapons and firearms would be great. Not enough of those. (I think Unreal Tournie does it IIRC)
