With talk of imdb.com having TDK currently at #1 (although it will probably drop at least a little), and currently at 95% on Rottentomatoes, and everyone practically loving it, I’m a “lists” guy so I thought it'd be interesting to see where this movie stacks up for everyone in their all time favorites.

I don't want this to turn into it "is it the best movie ever made?" thread, because it's hard to even compare it to The Godfather and other films like that (Happy Gilmore is in my top ten favorites…and I KNOW that movie isn’t well made, it just cracks me up lol).

But where does TDK stand in your All-Time PERSONAL favorite list and why?

And if you’re voting and discussing here, this should be open to spoilers.

And maybe throw in the rest of your list for kicks too, whatever else is sitting in your top five or ten or whatever.

Top 5. It joins The Godfather, Vertigo, Pulp Fiction, Raiders of the Lost Ark.

the departed, and the dark knight are about tied for me,, TDK might be better, other than that i dont think i have anymore favs

Easily goes in top 10...top 5...I don't know yet but we will see once it comes out on dvd.

Top ten. No particular order, though. I can't do that with my favorites.

The Dark Knight
Batman Begins
The Empire Strikes Back
Bride of Frankenstein
Pulp Fiction
Bringing out the Dead
The Aviator
There Will Be Blood
Ed Wood
Unbreakable.

after I saw it: #1

i dont think itll ever drop out of my top 5, but that shifts around alot

Mine shifts around a lot too.

My top three before TDK were:

1. Fellowship of the Ring
2. Return of the King
3. Empire Strikes Back

TDK fits in either #1 or #2. But again, my list is always changing too.

I'm not a list type of person. I can't say what's my favorite film. The Dark Knight and Psycho are two completely different films and I love both. I also love the movie As Good As It Gets. I can't say top five, because I can't decide which five belong in the top. TDK is definatly one of my favorites now, but I'm not going to try and put it on a list. So why am I even in this thread?

It'd probably fit in my top 20. I know if I started to list I wouldn't stop and my movie preference would depend on my mood. Also I just can't go past my childhood classics like Disney. Haha.

One night while my wife and I were watching America's Got Talent (...:o), I started throwing a favorite movies list together on a spreadsheet (wasting time while wasting time), and I know what you mean by "wouldn't stop" ...I ended up writing over 150 movies down. And whenever I look back at that list I start changing the order around like crazy. But usually my top 20 or so stay pretty much put.

My Top 10 Best Films of ALL-Time:

10.) Se7en (1995)
9.) Schindler's List (1993)
8.) Forrest Gump (1994)
7.) Jaws (1975)
6.) Saving Private Ryan (1998)
5.) The Departed (2006)
4.) The Usual Suspects (1996)
3.) Goodfellas (1990)
2.) The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
1.) The Dark Knight (2008)

All of these are about equal in my mind. Especially those top four. It's just that The Dark Knight is just the FASTEST two and a half hours it just makes those other three pictures seem long and dragging (even though they are all perfectly paced) by comparison.

It's an honest list. When I saw this film I knew it was up there as my favorite film---but during subsequent viewings, I am seeing that it is one of the best films to ever be made (story, acting, directing, effects, characters, pace, etc) and deserves all of the praise it has gotten.

top five, it joins fight club, jurassic park, blues brothers, and taxi driver

10.batman begins
9.casualties of war
8.se7en
7.goodfellas
6.the godfather part 2
5.platoon
4.pulp fiction
3.ALIENS
2.apocalypse now
1.the dark knight

I have to see it atleast 3 or 4 times to decide where it's gonna be, which is most likely somewhere in the top 10.

It's not in mine.

technically very good film but that wasn't batman in it. It's not even my top superhero film or batman film. Maybe too mobsterish and not enough film noir, dark alley or anything

for some reason it comes third in my superhero movie list or at least joint second, cant shift the buzz I had for spiderman when i first saw it, spiderman's last five minutes were just TOOO good and that's the inprint I got from it. Watching the comic come alive.

With bats i felt like i was watching a unique story and although very good, never got that kiddy buzz from it. Infact if batman wasn't in costume in it, there would be no way to distinguise it as a batman film. but the same could be said about batman returns.

1. Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
2. Star Wars: A New Hope
3. The Matrix
4. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
5. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
6. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
7. The Dark Knight
8. Casino Royale
9. Batman Begins
10. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

That's how TDK slots into my top ten.

In the top 5 along with: The Matrix, Batman Begins, Black Hawk Down, and Gladiator.

It is without a doubt the BEST and most exiting movie I have ever seen!... No other movie has ever put in that much plot/twist/turns, intensity, drama, great acting, along with an amazing story - as well as fantastic direction! This here movie is definitely the best I have ever seen!

If anyone else thinks another movie deserves to be called the best of all time, I'd respect that, but I wanna hear a good ****ing reason why!.. and it had better make some serious sense!

Its in my top 20, which is a lot lot higher than I expected it would be before seeing it.

Has to be in my Top 5 maybe #1 but my top 5-10 switch around so much its hard to put them in order

Currently in my Top 10: No particular order

The Dark Knight
Batman Begins
Star Wars Trilogy( The real one 4,5 and 6)
Saw
The Matrix
Shawshank Redemption
The Departed
Pulp Fiction
Gladiator
Casino Royal

Alternative: The Big Lebowski :woot: ( sorry had to do it, just love this movie)

#1 and I doubt it'll slip out of that spot if it does it'll take a long time.

Well, it's not in my top five, but certainly in my top ten.
