Annhilation wave, millions of death, Galactus being defeated, Thanos planning something, where is Mephisto in all this? I think it's pretty shocking to not see him during this.

I didnt realize Mephisto had much to do with Cosmic/Space aspects of the Marvel Universe.

Mephisto first appeared in a Silver Surfer issue, has dealt with Thanos, fought Galactus, Beyonder, and more. Yes, sometimes he does intefere with Earth affairs such as making Scarlet Witch insane which led to House of M, but he does deal with cosmic beings more than dealing with planets like Earth.

I think he really has no place in the events of Annihilation. But there only been one issue, he can still appear.

Really, what's he going to do? I doubt he'd care much. Doesn't effect him in any real capacity.

Well, we don't know what Thanos is planning with Galactus or with his alliance with Annihilus but Mephisto doesn't like to have someone out there stronger than him.

I'de like to see him as more of a cameo just going (only in his words) "wow, what the **** is going on, too many goddamn souls comming at me."

kinda off topic, but i was reading the latest Ghost Rider and Lucifer escaped from Hell to earth?? I thought Mephito was THE devil in the Marvel Universe? what's going on.

No, he's not. He's a very powerful demon with alot of influence, but in terms of status and power, he still pales in comparison to the Morningstar.

He is pretty much the main devil of the MU (far as usage goes), though there are other devilish beings out there who are just as powerful as Mephisto.
He was also the one responcible for Johnny being merged with Zarathos.
Why Way decided to ignore this...I have no clue. :o

It wasn't Way. Ennis was the one who mentioned Lucifer in his mini. In any event, Mephisto isn't the main devil. He's very powerful, but it's been said before that Satan is a seperate entity and is a bit more powerful than Mephisto.

Dude. He's going to be played by Peter Fonda in the Ghost Rider film. That instantly makes him one of the coolest mofos around.

He should have been played by Peter Boyle!

That would have been hilarious.:O

Dude. You're not getting it.

I was meaning more towards usage since he is used more in Marvel than Satan or any other devilish figure (not lately though).

Ah. Yes. There. you have a point. Really, the only reason Mephisto was created was becaous, due to the comics code, they couldn't actually use Satan. Now that the code has lightened up a good deal in that regard, I guess they're simply taking the oportunity to use the Morningstar himself instead.

God, I miss The Defenders. The Six Fingered Hand story leading up to Satan / Mephisto / Satannish / Asmodeus taking over the Earth in issue 100 was AWESOME!!!

......why didn't I know of such awesomeness until just now? The Defenders do certainly rcok. They're the real pros in the "saving the world from invading aliens/elder gods/zombie armies" stuff, but they don;t get any of the glory.

At least prior to Ghost Rider he has always been a main adversary of Silver Surfer.

Question, if you haven't read those issues I suggest you start about 10 issues back. Devil-Slayer, Hellcat, Kyle Rammond or Nighthawk, whatever his name is. Plus Gargoyle. All their stories start in a different place and then link up in 100. Great run. Get the back issues now!

Yeah, but again, within the context of the event, I don't see any reason to have him there.

It's on my to do list. I'm currently working my way through a few series, but I'll start looking for Defenders soon.

I mean I guess not, though you really COULD include any cosmic related character you wanted.
