If you could choose only one franchise whose rights would go back to Marvel, and thus, be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with Iron Man, Hulk, etc., which would it be?

I'd go with X-men. I want an original X-men movie that features the true team, gives Cyclops a meaningful role, and isn't overshadowed by Wolverine.

Spidey, FF & X-Men are all real important but I'll have to go with the X-Men simply because the whole mutant phenomina is a huge plot point in terms of the over all universe. After that the FF then Spidey. The rest follow after that.

Unfortunately FOX wont let go of our muties without a fight.

You mean the original X-Men lineup that didn't have Wolverine in it? That will never happen, because people want to see Wolverine. Say what you will about him being overexposed, but it will continue as long as it sells.

Definately Ghost Rider

It's not impossible to have X-Men without Wolverine. The Marvel Studios films have done fine without him so far and I bet his absence from Avengers is not going to diminish that film one iota (even though in the Comics they deemed it necessary to make him an Avenger as well, in their campaign to ****e him out every which way they could).
A well made film focusing on the original 5, respecting the characters and having them play their roles, without bastardizing the stories to fit boardroom politics or to follow a perceived trend, would be a hell of a movie that would do very well.

How about all of em?
Even better. That is what I would like to happen eventually. I just thought the poll was supposed to be about picking just one for now.

It is but, pfft, f**k that. I"m greedy. :o

That's a bit different from big screen movies, which need a lot of selling power. Wolverine is the most marketable member, which is why we have a cartoon called, "Wolverine and the X-Men", the packages of X-Men toys prominently feature Wolverine more often than anyone else, and the X-Men 3: The Last Stand logo incorporated Wolverine's claws. The fact is that noone gives a damn about an X-Men lineup without Wolverine. Noone gives a **** about Cyclops, Jean Grey/Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman, or Angel, or at least not enough to justify a whole movie about them without Wolverine.

Sorry but I don't agree. You might not give a damn, but that doesn't mean noone does.
I've heard the Wolverine is a MUST speech from many people, from fans to that lovesick schoolgirl Shuler Donner. But we really didn't have the opportunity to test out the alternative did we?
I'm sure if Marvel Studios did an X-Men movie without Wolverine it would do well.

Besides. Not having Wolverine doesn't even have to be an issue. I just don't want him to be the be all and end all of any X-Men story. He can be an integral part of the team without having to usurp other character's roles.

The problem I have with all these franchises being under one roof though is that they are all very New York-based. Thankfully they moved Iron Man out to the West Coast, but Spider-man, FF, and X-men all in NYC? It seems to work in the comics but I think it would get tired in the movie universe.

X-men have pretty much moved to San Fran. Spidey and FF have to be NY. No big deal. Letterman, Fallon, and Ferguson all film in NY, right? There's plenty of room.

Plus the FF usually take off for the Negative Zone, The Microverse, Latveria, Atlantis, Wakanda, The Blue Area of the Moon, The Savage Land, Subterannea, the Distant Past or Future and Deep Space.

:D

I would want Marvel to get Fantastic Four back. They seem to be the franchise that most fits Disney's mould and could really thrive under Marvel. Marvel can get along fine without the whole mutant hysteria and seems to have anyway. Having Fantastic Four opens up a world of possibilities and allows for even more crossovers. You'd have Dr Doom, as mentioned, Sub-Mariner, Super Skrull (which would allow a proper version of Secret Invasion or the Kree/Skrull war), Galactus, Silver Surfer and many others. You could have Black Panther alongside the FF as well. It would also allow for a proper Invaders movie without infringing on any potential trademarks or design rights with the Human Torch.

The fact that Marvel doesn't have the X-Men and especially Wolverine means that they have to make their other franchises work and can't be complacent and simply fall back on Wolverine. It forces them to be more creative and to come up with ways to make their other characters more marketable and appealing. If they had Wolverine they might simply shoehorn him into everything and not only would he get overexposure, but the public would simply grow tired of him and quite probably Marvel as well. Many other characters would simply be side lined and we might never see their individual films see the light of day. The lack of Wolverine is a blessing in disguise.

Hell I'd argue that it doesn't really work in the comics.

I voted for the Fantastic Four. Reed is one of the major Marvel geniuses and Doctor Doom, the Silver Surfer and Galactus are some of the best of Lee and Kirby's creations. I'm amazed Marvel Studios has the rights to Black Panther, the Skrulls and Inhumans but not this lot. (Is Annihilus under Fox too?)

Fantastic Four and Daredevil

Their movies were bearable but they were disliked by critics so much

All of them. I'd really, really, really love to see the F4 back in Marvels hands though. See some proper F4 stories, introducing the cosmic side to Marvels films.
