People like Wolverine & Fury aren't men out of time because they've lived through & adapted to the changes of the decades. Cap's a man out of time because he didn't experience those changes. From his POV things were one way one day and then radically different the next.

I agree. Silvermoth posted their reply just before mine, which was directed at their previous comment which was saying making Namor not ageing wouldn't work in a film.

Difference is Avengers is a team movie coming out after the main characters have had a solo outing (no disrespect for Hawkeye fans, but he will never be among Marvel's top guns).

This film is meant to be about Captain America. It's his origin, his adventure, his story. I think putting in someone like Namor, an Atlantean/human mutant hybrid, as a main character would detract from that, at least if they did him faithful to the comic version at any rate. Better to save him for his own film (imo).

I think Namor or evan Black Panther (or at least his father) are possibilities. Just Watched Iron Man 2 and in the scene towards the end with shield there is a map with markers on it one is in the mid atlantic and one is in africa Favreau even says that the african one is black panther so they are slowly building the universe up both characters may be mentioned in Cap. His shield being made partly out of vibranium Ta Chaka (i believe thats his fathers name) might actually make an apearance.

You know, it's probably for the best that Namor isn't in the first Cap film. That way he can interact with the modern era of humans. The fact that he doesn't age because of his Atlantean biology may be fine for comics but it probably wouldn't be that workable in a film.
