Toro (he can be some sort of weapons specialist, not a fiery android), Bucky (soldier side kick), Union Jack (British Special Forces), Namor (because somebody has destroy Nazi subs)
I really think they will keep Namor out and just go for a special forces team of heroes. I would think that a young Nick Fury might be a part of this team.

Nick Fury isn't going to be around during WW2 if they're following the Ultimate Universe.

When they were first announced, I actually envisioned the Invaders as a group of the best soldiers forced to put on costumes by their country for propaganda purposes after the success of Captain America. They can even show they detest their super hero costumes and don't like the idea of working with a guy wearing a flag like Cap but he ends up inspiring them to show Cap's skills as a leader.

I think another interesting idea would to have the Invaders be precursors to the Avengers in more ways then one. Like maybe they make it so Blue Bullet has a very clunky Iron Man-like armor and be somehow connected to the Starks, maybe they can have Black Panther's father as a member and maybe they can have Red Guardian be the grandfather of Black Widow (in the comics one of the Red Guardians was her husband).

If no one else, I'd like to see Union Jack. Just to kind of show an old school superhero alliance of two differing nationalities.

Regarding Namor...

August 12th, 2009

Here’s what you need to know: last week, I did an editing room visit for “The Surrogates” and after it ended, I spent about 5 or 10 minutes talking with Mostow about not only his new film, but what he has in development. Of course, “Sub-Mariner” came up and while he said very little to me on camera today, last week he was a bit more open. Since I wasn’t recording our conversation, here’s a summary:

Unlike “Iron-Man”, “Captain America” and “The Avengers”, which are owned by Marvel, Universal owns the rights to “Sub-Mariner” and can produce the film. According to Jonathan, Universal always renewed the option for the property, so they have the rights like 20th Century Fox has with “X-Men”, and like Sony has with “Spider-Man”. What that means is if Universal eventually makes “Sub-Mariner”, he’s not going to be part of the ever growing Marvel Universe unless Marvel and Universal strike a deal of some kind.

who the hell is going to go see a standalone Namor movie? Universal and water related movies don't go well anyway---cough Waterworld cough.

If they manage to get the rights back, Namor must be in it. Union Jack, Human Torch/Jim Hammond, Crimson Dynamo (since they aren't going to use him in Iron Man), and Blazing Skull. That might be too big/complex of a team, along with Bucky, to make for a good movie though. You would need a decent backstory on Namor and the Torch, perhaps some Stark/Vanko conections with Dynamo, and people not to think that Blazing Skull is Ghostriders dad.

it would be interesting if they do decide to do the super powered invader characters. but i agree it would probably be best if they are not powered and just skilled soliders from different parts of the world. bucky/cap from us, union jack/spitfire from uk, etc.....

Jim Hammond/Human Torch

In order to avoid confusion, he probably shouldn't just light on fire like the traditional FF Torch...
I would either have just maybe his eyes (and mouth?) actually ignite, while the rest of him would glow or (I like this idea better) make his skin crackle obsidian, like a lava flow, with random gouts of fire geysering out at random.

Also, I like this costume best.

none!!!!

the allied nations were the invaders, thats what world war two was about if your gonna get people interested in this film they keep the supes to a minimum for cap to stand out.

i mentioned in another thread that i wouldnt mind cameos from other marvel characters that were around then like wolvie but i honestly dont think you should go beyond that

Andy Whitfield (although I also like the suggestion of Jonathon Rhys-Meyers. But not Quinto, for me personally) as

Namor (if they can get the rights)

In a costume that doesn't make him look like a male ice dancer. Which I could not find a picture of. :yay:

In a slightly more WWIIified uniform.

AS far as Namor goes. Marvel already as a fine working relationship with Marvel. They worked together on The Incredible Hulk and the Hulk in all likeliness is going to be included in the Avengers. I dont see why a similar agreement could not be made for Namor. Especially if Universal wants to make a Namor movie, if Captain America is succesful than Namor would be a great spin-off

James Buchanan Barnes

Costume-wise, make him more ragtag, tougher, grittier, but essentially his traditional uniform.

Sorry. I suppose all of that probably could've gone in the Cast the Invaders thread...

i still doubt we will see namor though. IF its any one it will be union jack a total given, spitfire probably, cap, and bucky, and maybe one other member. Maybe android torch or maybe they will make peggy carter be assoicated with invaders. I doubt they will end up going with the more powered up guys. Cause that would increase the budget for the film which we know they already want it to be within i think 150million range. So i would go with the non powered characters myself.

I think one of the other Invaders modified to be a guy with a gun is more likely then the Human Torch.

i got a question to the comic reader guys here. which invaders have powers/what is their power sets, and what invaders dont have powers?

Without Powers:

Red Guardian is like Soviet Russia's Captain America. He doesn't have any powers. He's just a very skilled operative and he throws a shield like Cap does.

I don't think Silver Scorpion has powers.

Blue Bullet just wore a steel armor suit that could fly.

The original Union Jack doesn't have powers.

With Powers:

Blazing Skull is immune to fire and can shoot flames. He also has superhuman strength, a healing factor, and the ability to turn his flesh invisible.

Miss America can levitate herself through psionic means and has heightened vitality.

The Whizzer has super human speed and reflexes.

Spitfire also has superspeed.

The Thin Man can stretch and contort his body.

thanks for some quick info on characters. yea i really think they will probably end up going with the non powered guys. and if its anyone with a power mayne spitfire.

yea i am looking at this at a budget standpoint. We know they have a fix budget around 150million i think. And i would think they want the film to be more pratical then huge sfx driven type of film like ironman/thor/increadble hulk are. So i would pick the non powered guys more likely showing up. And if any one is to be powered it would be cap to show he is unique at that time period.

Black Panther, Miss America, Union Jack, Toro, Red Gaurdian, Silver Scorpion. And I agree with Webhead, the Invaders should de-powered to a degree. For example, Toro can just be armed with a flamethrower. I DO want Namor to be involved but they dont have the rights.

id like to see at least one other guy with powers. like i said i can see other nations trying to make supersoldiers of their own after seeing Cap. why wouldnt they? and maybe they have weird side effects that are basically super powers.

brian falsworth did have powers..he was super strong and all that jazz.
lord falsworth dint have powers.

i'd also like to see maybe the joey chapman union jack in the movie after cap is defrosted..let cap think that UJ is still around..but its actually a new uj.

as for invaders then for me its..
union jack
spitfire
human torch
namor
as namor is unlikely then maybe have toro..he and bucky were always fun to read.
