So its entirely believable for you that they could create a serum that makes someone perfect and design and create an indestructable shield...but making a robot is out the question????

Yes totally. There is a certain level of suspension of disbelief that I think is acceptable. Creating a serum and a shield seems well within the resources available for the era we are talking about and in keeping with what was stating by Howard Stark in IM2. Creating a fully functioning artificially intelligent robot that looks and acts human while being able to combust and project flames is too much and beyond the means of that era, especially when we have seen nothing in the modern MCU movies (IM, IM2, or TIH) that suggests that the technology is availble to create something so complex. I mean the closest we have is JARVIS, who seems to have some sort of AI but is not tangible, having no body or flesh-like appearance.

actually I think it would be easier to create a robot than create a new element.

Elements 95 through 118 are ALL synthetic elements. That means we've already created 24 new elements in real life.

To be fair, elements that size are damn impossible to synthesize for more than a few Planck times. That scene could have been more accurate. Maybe if Stark booked the LHC particle collider for the night, or maybe he could have had a bigger and more complete collider under that penthouse of his, although if they went into more detail than they already did, it would have detracted from the movie and it really wouldn't capture the Tony Stark imagination. Point is, it still worked in a movie, barely. Yeah I guess it's plausible Howard Stark can synthesize a pure android that combusts into flames via simple hydrocarbons. But no way should he be part human and fly like Johnny Storm or Iron Man.

yea its already been said the HC will not likely be a big part and probably be just soliders steve comes across with the hc names. As for fury i still rather just leave him in present day and not invovled in ww2 in marvel studios film verse. As for the invaders thats the tough one for me i still say it will be steve/bucky/possibly peggy carter, and definately union jack. Then probably 2 more members be it having powers or not. There is a few with powers and a few with out powers that could likely be used.

Sorry, that just stretches believability a little too much. Howard Stark can create a fully functioning artificial human, complete with flame-on capability but can't create vibranium? I know you want to see him but come on. If Torch does make it into the movie, I will certainly be shaking my head in the theater at such a terrible plot hole.

Howard Stark had nothing to do with the Human Torches creation. It was Professor Phinius Horton I believe. And who's to say where he got his technology,.....perhaps he somehow stumbled across, say,...some alien tech? Perhaps even Skrull tech? Again tying current (Avengers) Marvel Movieverse to past MMV?

If its just going to be Cap,Bucky, Peggy and a few unpowered people whats the point of calling them the Invaders....that would be like me doing a FF movie but then saying none have powers.

I just don't think we are going to see a full on Human Torch when it is all said and done. The fact that he doesn't logically fit very well in the MCU as well as the dubious connection to the FF Human Torch, makes me think that he will be left out. I would be OK with Torro in the Invaders with a suped up flamethrower, but that is as far as I would go with it.

well roach if they are using guys like union jack who doesnt have powers, and i believe there was a few invaders who dont really have powers per say that could be the route they are going. But yea we dont know whats what yet.

Actually the original Union Jack is the only non powered Invader other than Bucky. When he was injured while fighting Baron Blood he passed the mantle to his son who had the ability to project bolts of lightning

yea as i said many times before i dont really know anything of invader guys besides the names of a few and all that. But hopefully we will know soon enough what invaders are in this. So we can get a better picture of what marvel studios cimematic world was like in the 40s.

According to SHH homepage confirming Neal McDonough, it says that Feige said the Invaders would be in film, but "later revealed to be the Howling Commandos". Is there any truth to this?

yea i made this comment over in the neal thread, from what it sounds like it will probably be a mixture of howling commandos and invaders and they will take one of their names, and probably have a mixture of both groups like cap/bucky/peggy/and someone like union jack for invaders, and then dum dum, and another from commandos to be the group.

So from what I read.... someone high up at Marvel said something that was inaccurate and a mistake? Hmmmm. So that means that everything that people say in interviews and in the press isn't the "word of god?"

Wow! Colour me surprised. It's like learning that there is no Santa Claus ;)

It's the better way to go. Namor and robot Torch would be BAD ideas to put in the Cap film. Making it the Howling Commandoes with maybe Union Jack is smarter.

I really want to see Namor throw the block of ice with Cap in it - even if its a blurry namor figure and we see him through a semi-concious Cap's eyes (much like in Reborn) through the ice. It would be a nice teaser to future possibilities.

yea its tough to wonder where they are going with certain characters when we dont know what marvel studios plans are yet for guys like namor, or black panther and all.

I'd love to see Union Jack (being a brit and all).

Just my 2 cents on the Human Torch: 1) We won't see him because Fox hold the rights for that name, even though Hammond was the original Torch, and 2) He was never a robot. He was an entirely 'synthetic' human. He had bones, muscle, blood, organs, etc, all just like a human, but all 'made' by Horton, and NO mechanical parts at all (think of the replicants in Blade Runner, that kind of thing).
This fact caused a lot of discussion/confusion when it was revealed the Vision did have mechanical parts. This even led to a ret-con (when Bryne bought the original Torch back) then a ret-con of that ret-con (when it was revealed the Vision was indeed the original Torch but Ultron had Horton change his innards as well as his appearance, iirc)

The man who took the wings off of Cap's head in Captain America, director Joe Johnston, reveals for the first time that another Marvel hero will lose his wings!
Director Joe Johnston made an appearance on the floor of the San Diego Comic-Con yesterday to sign teaser posters for Captain America: The First Avenger and I managed to slip in a few questions about the movie. Read on...

Brent Sprecher: How's filming coming along?

Joe Johnston: Ah, we just started, but it's going great.

Brent Sprecher: Awesome. Was it hard to get away to come over here to do [the Con]?

Joe Johnston: Well, you know, they gave the crew a four-day weekend...everybody else gets four days off and we only get one.

Brent Sprecher: Are we going to get to see The Invaders?

Joe Johnston: Oh, yeah!

Brent Sprecher: Namor. Is he going to have little wings on his feet?

Joe Johnston: Ah, no.

Brent Sprecher: I'm really happy you're doing this movie.

Joe Johnston: Thank you. Thanks a lot.

Now that we have Namor. WHo's Next???

Does he actually confirm Namor? He is asked if he has the wings and he just says no. Why does that mean Namor is in the movie in some form?

I can care less about the wings, I'm just excited to see Namor. Wonder how many are going ape**** about this news.

"In other news, Namor will be wearing full clothing, a leather suit in fact. Director JJ felt having Namor wear almost nothing would be utterly ridiculous."
Some fanboy: WHAT THE ****?! THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO SUCK! I HATE YOU JOE! ARGHHHHH!

He better not be kidding. The Invaders without Namor just wouldn't be complete.

Unless the Invaders aren't actually in it, of course.
