No contest Loki......you may not have liked him but you understood where he was comming from and being the softie that I am , I felt sorry for him lol. Hiddleston was fantastic and I cant wait to see him in the avengers.

Red Skull was enjoyable to watch not as good as loki but I thought hugo weaving did a good job. He was ruthless and efficient with a touch of insanity to me that is a classic villian.

Loki. Intelligent, uber powerful, didn't have a completely underwhelming demise.

I'd like to thank the mods for making a poll even if it turned out to be lopsided. :yay:

I'd like Red Skull to reappear. He doesn't seem to have had enough air time. However, he should bring with him the likes of Baron Zemo and other Hydra agents.

Obediah Stane. Iron Monger was a generic villain (though he still had a better fight than underused Mickey Rourke), but the man behind the armor was a great character. He represents the ugly side of American capitalism and the military industrial complex. His allusions to the atomic bomb and how he planned to use the armor was chilling and Jeff Bridges, a master thespian, was able to turn off from warm and fuzzy to cold, cruel and Machiavellian in an instant. A very memorable character, even if his powers were not.

It's nice to see Bridges be praised for his performance in Iron Man, I also found it brilliantly acted and somehow underrated. Of course, Loki and Red Skull are going to dominate this thread but I plead Iron Monger deserves some recognition as well!

Loki for sure, and then Obediah based on performances, but if Skull returns and is given more to do and some better fights that better convey how he's superpowered as well then he might have a shot. I thought his evilness and madness came across right. However, it felt like the whole him being a supersoldier gone wrong thing wasn't played up enough in order to portray him as a man after the power of gods. Does anyone know if Red Skull's powers are as great as Cap's? Or is he only slightly enhanced?? I think Skull is dangerous because if alive in some other realm he will continue to try to find ways to make himself/his operation more powerful. I foresee him actually stealing and attaining some godly powers down the line because of this obsession/lust for the power of the gods (who we know are asgardians or beings from other realms).

Also, Abomination has to get a special mention. He's tied with Skull for me because of badassery and the actor's performance being excellent. Still, I enjoyed Stane and Loki a little more because their motivations and actions were somewhat more believable, and the actors also pulled off great performances.

Well Red Skull did seem evenly matchec with Cap during both of their confrontations, so it's safe to say that his abilities are on par with Cap's.

Red Skull
Loki
Abomination

Iron Monger

Whiplash

In that order

It's too bad that Iron Man's villains have pretty much sucked in both movies, Stane really didn't become "evil" until the end, Justin Hammer was a joke and not all that evil, and Whiplash got screwed over and barely got any screen time.

I honestly don't see what was so great about Red Skull, I liked him but he seemed very much cliche bad guy to me and we didn't get to know much about him, same goes for Stane. Whiplash could've been a great villain but got pushed aside and ended up with minimal screen time. Loki and Abomination were my favourites, we actually got to see their fall from grace, learnt a bit about them throughout the movie, saw their drive, their motivation, they had a reason for being the way they were.

Definately Loki for me, great performance and actually made you feel for him.

Honourable mentions to Abomination and Obidiah Stane/Iron Monger though.

I found Red Skull a bit dissapointing, especially considering the actor they had.

Loki. He has the most depth. Red Skull is second, since Hugo Weaving was just so awesome as him and had the best feeling of honest-to-goodness evil to him. I'd say Stane is a close third, because Jeff Bridges is the man (and the dude). Whiplash is fourth, he just didn't do anything for me, although Rourke did the best he could. Abomination is last- although Blonsky was pretty good, once he became the Abomination he just went downhill.

the red skull didn't have enough to an emotional tie with captain america and avice versa, I wished they had encountered each other more than just twice in the film.

I had hoped each scuffle at those basis would have had them duking it out so they had a real personal vendetta between them.

cap didn't even care when the skull disseapeared off.

whiplash and abomination were aweful.

stane was good until he suited up.

it was somewhat of an origin story for loki, i hope he hits his stride for the next film.

justin hammer was by far the best to watch on screen though.

^Hammer does seem under-rated on here, Rockwell is always entertaining to watch and he didnt dissapoint as Hammer.

i suppsoe it's because his villainy wasn't necessary as cliche as the rest.

which works well with how iron mans heroic antics (especially in the second one) aren't as cliche

Hammer was awesome. He reminded me of Loki, in that neither are really villains yet. That Thor and IM2 were kinda their origins too, so to speak.

Hugo Weaving's Johann Schmidt/Red Skull was my favorite villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Next would be Tom Hiddleston's Loki from Thor.
Finally would be Tim Roth's Emil Blonsky/Abomination from The Incredible Hulk.

For me it goes:

Red Skull: (Just one of those rare times when actor and role are completely suited. Perfect.)

Loki: (Easily, the villain with the best arc and motivation)

Iron Monger: (The one that started it all. Sometimes his automatic switch from lovely bloke to boo-Hiss baddie can feel a bit rushed but c'monnnnnnn, it's Bridges! Why nitpick?)

Abomination: (Decent. They were clever enough to hire a pro like Roth and he did the best he could with not an awful lot but there's still lots to enjoy here. The whole character also kinda works as a kinda walking, talking easter egg for cap too, which is cool)

Whiplash: (Meh...)
