Disney seems to be dedicated to creating modern takes of their classic stories with these live action remakes. Now some have been pretty damn incredible like Jungle Book and some have been pretty damn woeful.

Now I recently came across a list of all the supposed Disney remakes that are to be released over the next few years (take it with a pinch of salt) but I thought it would be interesting to see which one from that list you want to see most or maybe it hasn't even been announced as live action remake yet but its the one you'd most like to see?

Here's the list

Lion King July 19th 2019
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil October 18th 2019
Lady And The Tramp 12th November 2019 (US Only)
Mulan March 27th 2020
Cruella January 1st 2021
The Little Mermaid TBC
The Sword In The Stone TBC
Peter Pan TBC
Pinocchio TBC
Tink TBC
Rose Red TBC
Prince Charming TBC
Hunchback TBC
Lilo & Stitch TBC
Genies TBC

Plus some that weren't on the list that I think are also real contenders.

Bambi
The Rescuers/The Rescuers Down Under
The Aristocats
The Fox & The Hound
Oliver & Company
The Black Cauldron
The Great Mouse Detective
The Emperor's New Groove
Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Hercules

So which one of these would get you most excited?

Only ones that would really interest me are:

The Black Cauldron
Hercules
The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Mulan. I'd like to see a proper Hunchback adaptation, but that wouldn't be happening from Disney. The animated version was good and dark for Disney, but nowhere close to how grim the book is.

They could make it closer to the book by devoting 30 minutes just to talk about architecture.

I can’t wait to see the aristocats and the little mermaid. What a shame the poll wasn’t multiple choice. Plus seeing Hercules would be cool. Will Arnett would be a fun Hades and seeing Hercs muscles in live action would be nice

Hunchback. That's the only one. Atlantis might be cool too.

I want them to adapt Tangled and hopefully call the film as Rapunzel.

The Black Cauldron, as long as its less a remake of the cartoon, and more just a flat out from-scratch new adaptation of the Chronicles of Prydain.

Now that is a live action Disney film I can tolerate as I can envision a series of movies based on the book that won't be a remake of the cartoon but a new adaptation of the novels just like Lord of the Rings were to the Rankin bass and Bakshi films.

But for the rest, I don't wanna see anymore remakes of Disney animated classics which seem lazy and halfassed like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Lion King which I have no desire to see anytime and stick with the classics.

I don't want remakes because they're lazy but I'm fine with reimaginings. Which is why I'm excited for Mulan.

Black Cauldron, but it woulda also be awesome as a Prydain tv show on disney+

For me personally:

Pocahontas in live action
Hunchback
Emperor's New Groove
Hercules in live action
Peter Pan
The Sword in the Stone

The only live action Disney movies I'm interested in at this point are the ones that can give POC the roles they didn't get to voice before. So Mulan for example is the only one I'm looking forward to now.

Lindsay Ellis' "woke Disney" video is great, and I agree with everything she said about the profitable things Disney capitalizes on. (and everything she said about that trash BATB remake in her other video) but I'm stuck on how Disney is supposed to acknowledge the racism in Dumbo without making it racist all over again. How do you work those crows in?

I know it's not a film but why isn't Gargoyles on the list!? haha. Just make this Disney!

I would mostly be interested in Hercules, Sword in the Stone and maybe Robin Hood - if they do it with humans instead of animals. (I don't think that all CGI animal casts in real world settings works particularly well and I can't see anthropomorphised CGI animals working too well either).

But imagine the big creature fights (from Hercules) or the Wizard Duel or the attack/rescue on Prince Johns castle in live action!

I know we've had other versions of these in recent years but I think going they all took that serious approach. The Disney ones have that typical light hearted, fun tone to them which if they can manage to replicate in live action, would be great. To be honest, I would just get Gore Verbinksi to do one or all of them...

I'm not a massive fan of these but (a few years ago) I thought there would be potential in a "Rangers" universe if they folded in Rescuers, Rescue Rangers and Great Mouse Detective together..

Hercules would be so much fun in live action. Imagine seeing the hydra fight irl? Plus they can get peter Dinklage to play Phil

Yeah imagine how cool it would be seeing will arnett as hades. Although I heard a rumour that Disney was looking potentially at Benedict Cumberbatch which is a bit predictable

I can see Hercules being fun. Or Hunchback. Generally live-action versions of the cartoon movies starring humans kinda make sense. I don't get something like the Lion King. It's a new version of an animated movie that's also animated but in a less expressive or stylish way.

I think Alex skargaard is too old now, they’d need someone a little younger I think. Hades I would definitely wanna someone like Will Arnett. For Phil id maybe suggest Charlie Day (always sunny connection :yay:) Meg I’d like someone like Emmy Rossum.
