Which Superhero has the BEST and WORST gallery of Villans?

Batman easily has the best.
Superman has pretty lame villains. I mean c'mon, Luthor in 4 of the 5 Superman flicks?

Spider-man's are alright.

Brainiac is easily the most underrated villain in comic book history.

I can't stand the Hellfire Club.

I can agree with that.
I think people don't vibe with Brainiac 'cause he doesn't have the visceral, emotional motivation that better villains have. But Hellfire Club?...never got it.

Batman, hands down. You can't beat classic villains like the Joker, Catwoman, Two-Face and Scarecrow.

X-Men is a close second. You got Magneto, Mystique, Sinister and the Sentinels.

The worst would have to be Superman. Apart from Lex Luthor, Zod and Brainiac, the rest of them are a yawnfest. No offense intended.

I think with Brainaic, there's been so many different versions that for some reason he never caught on until Superman the animated series.

And still, he was in limbo, even after the animated series, being used off and on with no definate version in the comics.

I hope to GOD that since the events of Infinte Crisis, Brainaic will come back, but this time something closer to his animted form. From what I know, Toyman is more like the animated version now in the comics.

good to read about

good at what they do, ie biggest threats..

different strokes for different folks.

spidey's rogue gallery would be way better than batman if they actually treated half of them with any respect and didn't overplay the exploits of a few.

imagine a kraven like character in gotham after bats, he would be AMAZING, like the last hunt all the time...

reading spidey sometimes is like being in a groundhog day scenario where you forever wake up and realise that santa claus doesn't exist...

On a side note, Flash has the most under-rated rouges gallery out there - really nice line-up.

I can sum this up for everybody...while Spidey/Batman/X-Men have the most cool villains, the Fantastic 4 beat them all only because of one villain and that is the villain to end all villains...DOCTOR DOOM!!! Enough said...

Everyone seems to agree that Bats and Spidey have the best villains, but which one of those 2 rogues galleries is best?

We've tried to answer this controversial question here on SHH before, but I don't think we'll ever get a real consensus.

The Best: X-men...They have Magneto, Sabertooth, Mystique, The Phoenix, etc

The good: Batman...Joker, scarecrow, ra's al ghul, catwoman but they also had Mr.Freeze and Poison Ivy...Plus batman forever's Riddler and Two-face were terrible

The okay villains: Spider-man...Aside from Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus the others were terrible. Harry wasn't a villain and even if he was hed still be a bore...plus venom and sandman suck.

The bad villains: The Hulk...I love the Hulk but the whole absorbing dad thing was sooo ******ed . I have yet to see FF2 but judging from the first film it fits this category as well

Spider-man was always my favourite when I was younger, because of the great villains.

Yes there are some two-dimensional ones, but there are some interesting powers there as well as very interesting character arcs, for example Kraven.

Ironman never struck me as having a decent rogues gallery though.

I'd say Batman are the most consistantly good and memorable. Especially in the TAS, even the riddler was cool. Plus they all complement the Hero well.

Spider-Man is a mixed bag. When they are great they are great, when they are bad they are bad. Still I'd say he has plenty of great and interesting villains.

X men has some great Villains as well. Lots of variety, probably some of the most variety. Everything from Phoenix, to Magneto, to the Sentinels really. A wide spectrum.

I would have to say that Fantastic Four has some pretty bad, forgetable ones. But I'm not a huge expert. They have a few good ones, but not enough for a really great rogues gallery.

and Superman has a few good ones. But so often the only two who ever come to mind are Lex Luthor who is interesting but kind of lame, and Derkseid. Other than that, who else is there really. Superman's best rogues are the otherworldy ones. I guess Gerneral zod is pretty cool.
