If you had to choose only one timeline for future X-Men movies, which one would you choose? First Class timeline? Or Original Trilogy cast timeline?

Personally, I want to follow both casts, but If I really had to choose only one, I prefer the original trilogy cast.

That's hard now especially after seeing DoFP. Because I do want the original cast. I always do. But i'm so interested in seeing where they go with the future of the first class cast. But if I was gonna chose I want to see a movie with Storm, Rogue, Iceman, Colossus, Kitty etc again. So original for me.

Can it be both? :D

I highly recommend those who have not watched DoFP yet to not vote. The movie makes a very good hard sell for the FC cast, and it feels like there is a story left untold for them. Or two or more.

However, seeing the originals again would be very nice, especially after the sour taste of The Last Stand is long gone.

If they can do what they did with DoFP and blend both casts together again that would be great. But this time make the movie an extra half hour longer and give the original cast more screen time.

I wonder if it would be possible to do both. Fox can't do an 'expanded universe', but they could do an 'expanded timeline' featuring the two casts. For instance you could have X-Men Apocalypse in 2016 with the original cast and X-Men FC 2 (or whatever) for the new cast in 2017. Have each series in alternating years maybe.

I want both as well, but for this thread, choose only one. And its better if you vote after seeing DOFP.

I think Fox is definitely considering it.

Apocalypse is obviously going to be primarily a FC sequel. But beyond that? We have Channing Tatum's Gambit movie, which will be fast tracked, as Tatum is at the peak of movie stardom right now. And there's Wolverine 3. But beyond that? I know Jeff Wadlow was signed on to do an X-Force movie, which could work in Omar Sy's Bishop (who along with Blink feel very much like a tease for more to come in DoFP). If this movie is really well liked, I could see at least some of the original cast coming back for some other future film around 2018 or so.

I was unaware Apocalypse was an FC follow up. Still, you could switch around the date of what I wrote and still have it work.

I believe Bryan Singer or Simon Kinberg have confirmed that it will be set another decade after this movie, which would point to continuing with the First Class cast. It makes sense, they're all contracted to do at least one more, and Lawrence, Fassbender, and McAvoy's popularity will likely only grow in the next two years. If this movie is as big as you and I think it will be, they may not need to rely as much on the original cast to buoy it.

With that said, this movie should make any fan of this franchise nostalgic for the originals, so maybe that will include Fox, Singer, or whoever else makes the decision. It can certainly grow the franchise at the base in an easy way.

Valid point, you could well be right. Now you've got me thinking that DOFP can work as both a send off to the original cast as well as a fresh beginning for them. There are two directions you can go now, neither of which are wrong. That's kind of incredible actually there are two potential paths that this film gives the series.

FC cast easy choice for me. I only liked X, Magneto and Wolverine in the OT cast since they were the ones who got good material and was cast right but I really loved the younger ones way more and I'm sick of Wolverine. I didn't like any female in the OT cast except for Rebecca's Mystique. The FC cast come with the hope of seeing recast of Storm/Jean/Cyclops and others. Is really the only thing that is keeping my interest in the franchise.

Definitely do both

One with a framing story of Xavier telling Wolverine about the formation of the X-Men at the time of Apocalypse, and then another with the future X-Men fighting something else. I think McKellen's time is done, Magneto has gone on a VERY different path

Original cast always. But if they introduce a really good Storm, Cyclops and Jean to the new cast I may support them more xD

New cast. I don't know if I even LIKE the original cast.

Original of course as I never connected to cast of FC ... unfortunately like I did with original cast.

If 2018 film Is X-force or gambit i think odds are not good to see the future
wolverine wakes up In ending of DOFP again.

SOme have said DOFP Is really 80% FC+Wolverine and 20% future with OT
cast+Newbees

The only connection to Non-FC films going forward will be Hugh Jackman
playing wolverine
and this will be before the wolverine we know wookup in new 2023.This wolverine will be one Mystique as stryker rescued from drowning and who has no memory of X-men

Odds are much greater that X-force Is made would be set in past after events of Apocalypse.

It seems like Fox and creative team decered the FC cast+Hugh jackman are future of franchise.

Haven't seen DoFP yet but the future of the franchise is with the younger crew. I know there is nostalgia attached to the original cast but if Fox want to keep making these movies for the next 5-10 years then Lawrence, McAvoy, Fassbender and Hoult along with young Scott, Jean, Storm is the way to go. Plus Tatum's Gambit and whoever else appears in Apocalypse.

Except we don't know how many of FC cast will be sticking around after Apocalypse.

I think the ending of DOFP pretty much closed the book on the original cast, they are together, they are all alive and all is well, i wouldn't put it past them to do any other appearances, but I don't particularly see a solo film with just those guys again

I'd rather it follow the new cast, and then they can cast a new cyclops, storm and jean grey and basically start again with a newer fresher cast.

Besides people are kidding themselves if they think they are dropping Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender for Halle Berry, Famke Janssen and James Marsden
