It honestly sounded like Bob Hoskins in the animated version of Rocket Raccoon on AEMH.

Hopefully, they'd swap in the Wendell Vaughn version of Quasar, though, over the useless Phyla-Vell. Balance out the gender shift by putting in Mantis, Moondragon, and/or Gamorra.

My Ideal cast would the following.

Nathan Fillion as StarLord
Dwayne johnson as Drax the Destroyer
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Adam Warlock
Gemma Ward as Phyla-Vell
Natlie Dormer as Gamora
Ellen Wong - Mantis
Bruce Willis - Rocket Racoon

Nathan Fillion is a perfectly fine actor but I'm to the point of actively rooting against him ever working in a Marvel movie...it seems almost every role the fan boys want him for something....If he was really that perfect he would have been in something by now....he's far less dynamic of a film star than any actor we've been blessed with in Marvel....He's a TV actor. Very good at it....but that's what he is....a great actor for the shows that get reran on WB from 9-10 and 10-11 slots for years.

I'm picturing something like the Smurfs or Scooby Doo movie when I think about a CGI Rocket Racoon. They need to get the best writer possible to make him seem like a badass to movie audiences.

Oh my god. Philip Glenister doing the voice of Rocket Racoon would be ...I've got to stop thinking about it. I'm starting to dribble.

Guardians of the Galaxy is too much of a cluster fruz to be an even remote success.
Nobody knows who the characters are, and their wibbly wobbly timey wimey alternate universe thing is a bit much to absorb in one movie.

Its definitely the longest shot they've suggested yet. I think it has a *chance*, if sold right. . . but oi, they'd need to be very conservative and efficient with their budget to balance the risk.

After seeing performance capture performances like Hulk, Golem, Ceasar and Paul, I fully believe that this technology is the future of film. I would love to see Marvel adopt this tech and take it places other companies fear to go. Rocket isn't much of a stretch, but I agree, don't make him cutesy. Make him hard and dangerous.

I think after the success of The Avengers and with a Disney marketing campaign, Marvel can release anything and get butts in the seats. Maintain the high quality of their previous features and there is no reason that GOTG couldn't be a hit. Make the film somehow relate to the next Avengers film and they continue you themes they began with IM. They are going cosmic anyway, why not tap this team as resource for future films.

I want groot in the GOTG. That's all I know.

As for Rocket Racoon's voice, I'm sure this is way off the wall and will get laughed at, but Robin Williams.

Absolutely NOT the way to go. Don't make Rocket funny or cutesy. Way too formulaic. You would be basically relagating him to the role of cute animal sidekick.

Make him the opposite of what the GA would expect. A competent warrior and teammate who doesn't take BS and contributes in very significant ways.

I love Robin Williams but he is wrong for the MU.

Lol, I would expect nothing less from you as far as a response OsGom. :)

I don't think having Robin Williams do his voice would indicate that RR isn't 1. competent 2. a teammate who doesn't take bs. or 3. a major contributor or that it would be animal cutesy or funny.

Williams is much more than a comedic one trick pony. though these are live action roles have you ever seen 1 hr. photo or insomnia, though the overall movies may not be the best, robin williams is exceptional in both roles and shows his versatility.(not to mention Good Will Hunting)

What better way to do the opposite of what GA expects than have williams (who they would expect some goofy take on RR's voice) give a dynamic voice acting performance. Plus, lets not kid ourselves, you kno RR is going to have some funny/snarky one-liners that gain a laugh and I think they could be delivered perfectly with RW.

Anyways, I knew I'd get that kind of response as that was my out of left field suggestion...

I also think Bruce Greenwood would also be a nice option.

I've suggested they actually do a slight stunt cast, and have Rocket voiced by Jason Statham. Play up the "He's a raccoon, who is every action hero ever" angle.

Meh, agree to disagree. RW is a phenominal voice actor but in my mind more suited for comic relief. I think his talents would wasted on character I see more like the straight man that wouldn't require with the dynamic and frantic talents of Mr. Williams. Sure RR will have snarky dialogue but I envision a more deadpan delivery.

Maybe that's my lack of vision :cwink:

OH, I see what you did there! ha.ha.ha... lol

Like I said. Out of left field, but that's the fun of throwing things out there.

I do, however, think Bruce Greenwood, would be good for RR. While, he is no Kevin Conroy, he did an admirable job as Batman in the Under The Red Hood animated flick.

I admit, I'm not well versed in GOTG, but from what little I researched and saw him on EMH, am I the only one who wants groot in the live action movie? Haha. I haven't been this excited about a tree being in a film since Treebeard in LOTR hahaha

There are SO many other Marvel properties I want to see turned into a feature film before these fellas, although GROOT on screen could be fun.

I hope Marvel is not getting cocky and think that anything with a Marvel logo on it is going to be box office gold, this one is by far a long shot at best.

Maybe have them appear in a Captain Marvel movie first...

Drax has to be in there, right? He is the #1 Thanos hunter in the galaxy. Do you introduce him in a Guardians movie or Avengers 2? Feige said he would be in the movie which is great news.

there is no way to make a talking racoon COOL in a movie.
the reason the Marvel films do so well is because they ditched a lot of the over-the-top cheese from the comics.
