White eyes for the DCU Batman

Yeah, looking at it again, I think it probably would’ve felt a little more fist-pump-worthy if it was just Jackman’s eyes (something the Russo Brothers would be smart to keep in mind come Secret Wars).

I think folks really gotta realize that the whole white eye bit has trickled down from a time when it just wasn’t feasible to do human eyes on this kind of a mask…

But the classic yellow suit guys, c'mon. Have some fun. Let people enjoy things. :o

I don’t even think it’s undoable! It’s just they went out of their way to make him look dumb. Really didn’t help that Jackman in the Byrne suit without the mask for five seconds looked immeasurably better.

I totally get the argument against live action white eyes... but then a part of me really, really wants to see this done in live action:

That would strike fear into my heart.

Between the cumbersome-looking white lenses in TDK and the Deadpool and Wolverine attempts which are really more mask than eye, the only way I might be open to doing white eyes is if they were to just do the black eye makeup under the mask and white out the actor’s actual eyes in post.

But still… ehhh.

You already have, whenever a Batman actor would squint his eyes. That's what this is is, just done through a cartoonist convention.

Oh, this just came to mind... Based on Mr Terrific...

How do you think they'll handle the eyes? Lol

That's just the magic of art/animation. It will never look or feel the same in live action. Let this be something special about animation.

Each has its respective strengths and weaknesses. Trying to make one look like the other is a mistake. It's why Disney's Nine Old Men came up with rules for animation that continue to today that meant to compensate for the fact that trying to translate movements or expression 1:1 from live action to animation will NEVER look good/right.

Yeah, I'm puzzled by the white-eye debate.
Even when I was a kid, it was obvious that it was a matter of stylization in tune with the medium, be it comics or animation.
I mean... Nobody's asking for blue hair for Bruce Wayne, right?

More seriously, even using white or semi-white contact lenses, you might get two or three nice pictures, but I'm pretty sure it would completely fall apart in a full live-action scene.

And I say that as someone wishing for waaay more stylization in these films.

Hollywood will never learn. Can you manip the hair and make the collar of the undershirt really skintight, too? That would make it sooo mUcH bETtA.
I asked Gemini, but it gave me this:

i'm genuinely dumbfounded how can one say this looks good lol. comics/animation don't translate 1:1 to live action, never will man.
