White Nick Fury or Black Nick Fury, who do you prefer?

Horrorfan said:
Exactly. He looks like a gay, 1970's magical fairy pimp.

'Camp' is not the word.

Looks like a badass sorcerer who can make me do terrible, terrible things to me.

I prefer the 616 Nick Fury, simply because he doesn't look like he'll be caught in a situation reminiscent of "Snakes on a S.H.I.E.L.D Jet" or something.

Whatever, Ult. Fury is damn cool.

When I look at him, I see 'spy' written all over him. Sam Jackson is quite simply the man!

I see Shaft, not spy.

They seem to like the Iconic (boring) look.

I am. Dr. Strange is a badass, no matter whats he wearing, you seem to like more realistic clothing in comic books, I like over the top. Frankly, most costume slook stupid.

I'm not saying he isn't bad ass, but he certainly doesn't LOOK badass...which was my point.

Constantine looks bad ass, Angel and Spike look bad ass....Stephen Strange? Not so much, imo anyway.

But Constantine, Spike and Angel are very much different than Strange. What would you have him wear a wife beater and jeans?

People in normal clothes who use leather jackets or trench coats look bad ass? Oh-kaaaaayyyyy.

Yeah, but who doesnt wear that nowaday?

That's why I fail to see the bad assedness of it. It's their personalities that make them that way and if you don't know angel you would think he's just some pretty boy in a corporate building or something.

I didn't say all people now, did I?But it's one billion times more bad ass than blue peter pan trunks and leathskin gloves.

They're still normal clothes. They're "bad boy" clothes that have existed since "Rebel Without a Cause" and before. Two of those people you mentioned are TV characters and you have right there the answer as to why they don't wear costumes. Did Wesley look like a badass when he impersonated Angel? No, the only reason he was feared was by the rep. So if you want to stick to the old adage of "The clothes make the man" it's up to you, I prefer the "Don't judge a book by it's cover" adage.:)

I'm sorry but i Love that look. And it'd be tricky to change it character wise anyway. The cape's an important part of his gear and modern clothes just wouldnt work with the cape.

And If i had a cape of levitation i'd damn well wear it no matter how outdated it looked.

I don't like Ultimate Nick Fury as much, because he's not Nick Fury at all. They couldn't have just had him be Gabriel Jones, or anything? But Bendis doesn't know who that is. I'm surprised Izzy Cohen isn't in Ultimates at all, though.

Sam Jackson could probably sue Bendis for using his likeness.

was it bendis' creation? i thought it was millars...

Ok, so you just think that they like the "boring" iconic look. Or do you also agree that they never change their characters costumes?

DC changes their characters looks quite a bit, Superman Red/Blue?

I personally think overall design wise Marvel heroes look better, the boxers on the outside look the DC seems so keen on keeping, I'm not fond of.

Ok, just wanted to make sure that I was getting your post right and that you weren't agreeing with the post you replied to since, like you said, DC characters' looks DO change. Like Supes is changing his look to mirror the one in the movies. :down

How many costumes has Rayner gone through? Like two or three outside of Ion? Who's already had a costume change.

And if someone doesn't like Strange, costume or otherwise, they need a goodwilled body thrashing.

Black Nick is a dick. He just ups in everyone's faces and lets everything drive his ego.

Agreed ... i believe his costume could do with a redevelopment.I would make it look more like Madrakes from the old Defenders of the Earth cartoon, i.e. a Classic Victorian suit, but with no top hat. I would still Keep the Cape though.

I disagree about the idea of over the top clothing. Modern day looks, such as seen in the Matrix, Supreme power, and Authority work really well im my oppinion. If characters are going to wear spandex, it needs to be more of a uniform, rather than a fashion statement. Armour always a good as well. :)
