I figured out who the new Daredevil is. I'm quite surprised I figured it out. It just hit me. I just thought of the name in my head, and my next was "of course!". I have not read this in any interview, magazine, article, or message board. I'm sure the name as been thrown out before, maybe I saw it myself on a message board at some time but not that I can remember. I am convinced that my guess is right. So convinced, that I mark this thread spoiler, and ask you to leave the thread if you want to be surprised by the reveal and don't know who it could be. I don't even read that many Daredevil comics! But this is obvious when you think about it. The mystery Daredevil is....

Nick Fury. It has to be Nick Fury. Fury has been off the scene for a long time. He's been underground. The mystery Daredevil has displayyed athletic and fighting capabilities, which Fury has. He has the "Fury" kind of badass smirk. The heroes of the anti-registration side all of a sudden out of nowhere have a hideout that only Fury knows about, but we haven't seen Fury. The new Daredevil is Nick Fury, I am sure of it.

More reasons. Nick and Matt have a relationship from before the Civil War storyline. Nick Fury has technology, he is probably the only person that can fool a room full of heroes (including Wolverine and Emma Frost).

If thats true that could give great power to the heroes who are against registration, having the former (and most likely after this whole thing is over) future leader of SHEILD on their side.
In fact this could be something that will really effect the story of Civil War, a major Plot point.
That would really be a cool and unexpected reveal. Plu I can see him behind Daredevil's smirk. I like this idea, I hope your right.

i think its either hawkeye or nick fury, good call. only problem with fury is...why? the new daredevil showed up on the scene a little while before the civil war began. sure fury was underground at this point, but it doesnt make sense that he'd be wasting his time on street level crime when hes got bigger fish to fry like the registration act, taking back S.H.I.E.L.D., etc. plus it would be kinda hard to fake a scrambled satellite call when ur calling the headquarters ur staying in with a bunch of other heroes.

I see more of a reason for Nick Fury to hide out as Daredevil than Hawkeye.

Going from blind guy to guy with one eye.

I wonder if the next person to dress up as Daredevil will also have some sort of vision problem.

Nick Fury makes so much god damn sense!!

He's been underground. Has a relationship with Matt. Has the technology to fool Wolverine and psychics. Has the athletics and fighting skill.

There are only two people mystery DD could be that would be shocking enough for the story. Hawkeye or Nick Fury.

I can't think of a single good reason as to why Hawkeye would dress as DD.

The only problem with this theory is that Nick has never displayed any major acrobatic skill.

so basically what you done is just create a new thread for something we've already discussed as a possibility.

nice one.

His friendship with the Black Widow and her past with Matt. Maybe he's doing her a favor.

I think it would be awesome!

Fury needs a big return.

Plus it would put him in the spotlight, maybe make him more popular. I don't know how popular he has been lately.
Also it could help rase his popularity and show that he needs a big budget movie.

not a bad idea. all you have to do is read Civil War #2 in the spread where the Young Avengers are taken to 'SHIELD Safe House 23'

Hulkling asks how many people know about these safe houses.

Cap turns, and appears to be looking at 'Daredevil' when he says "Just Nick Fury."

'Daredevil' then says "He's Underground now too. And can only be contacted via scrambler-phone. But he said we could use this place for as long as we like. And he's already working on our new secret ID's."

given these clues, i think it's safe to bet that Nick Fury IS Daredevil.

That sounds like a huge clue. I gotta buy that issue. I really hope its Nick Fury, especially after all the clues and how sure we all are.

It's possible, mostly 'cause Marvel characters don't have distinctive speech patterns like they used to.

see, you say that but I have to disagree to some extent.

I'd say the manner in which DD is speaking in that scene fits with teh character of Fury; it's very 'to the point' and abrupt. Whereas someone like, say, Tony Stark, has a much wider vocabulary and makes good use of it.

Earlier scenes, like the meeting in the Baxter Building in CW #1 show some distinctive speech patterns. Spider-Man in that scene speaks completely differently to the way Reed does.

he's clearly looking at hulking, who's next to DD, and who asked the question. you're projecting. don't do that.

Also, i have an unrelated question -- HELP -- can someone tell me why a super soldier needs glasses? cap was wearing them. is it just part of the disguise?

sometimes they do. but doc strange was recently modernised. for bendis, everyone does kinda talk the same -- he says they talk how real ppl talk but its actually how real ppl bendis knows talks. anyway -- spidey's easy to do, make dum jokes. reed and stark -- be more well spoken and scientific. its not as developed as it cud b/ used to b

Yes that was just part of a disguise.
And I wouldnt be too surprised if it's Fury but i'm still holding onto my belief that it's Iron Fist.
He's got the athletic/acrobatic ability to play DD and he's friends with Matt.
Also they've hinted that IF is gonna show up in Civil war in an unexpected way.

Of course I was talkin' about little nuances like what I do with my text speak. Ya know, droppin' Gs, sayin' yer, little stuff like that distinctive to characters.

Fury usedta have that kinda speech, but it's been missin' fer some time. Thing still has his to some degree, but it's been dumbed down considerably. Last I checked, Gambit and Rogue's accents've seemed to been on vacation as well.
