Who are the most brilliant minds in the Marvel universe?

Muze said:
in no particular order

Reed Richards
Victor von Doom
Tony Stark
Bruce Banner
Henry Pym
T'challa
Alyssa Moy
Emil Burbank
Arnim Zola
Kathryn Ariel Pryde
Augusta Seger
Nathaniel Essex
Charles Xavier
Erik Lehnsherr
Star Saxxon
Donald Pierce
Henry McCoy
Norbert Ebersol
Martin Henry Strong
Bolivar Trask

See I knew I was forgetting someone. :(

like i said...Banner is seriously under-appreciated. And to actually see his intellect in comics, ud really have to go back many years to where you can actually see Bruce in action. but the dude is beyond brilliant. he is just overshadowed by the personality that everyone is more into. the hulk.

1.Bruce Banner
2.Magneto
3.Reed Richards
4.Dr Doom

100.Hank Pym(he always finds a new way to beat his wife)

Oh how people have forgotten that the Sentry is up in Richard's level.

wasn't that before his new series retconned origin where he just steals a formula and drinks it?

In no particular order;

Reed Richards
Charles Xavier
The Leader
Magneto
Dr. Doom
Peter Parker (Extroadinarily intelligent especially in science)
Bruce Banner (easily the best at radiation based subjects, especially nuclear and gamma radiation)
Otto Octavius (it's a shame the arms control him sometimes)

Indeed? I stopped reading Avengers after Busiek left, so im not sure what happened at that point, but PRIOR to that, Hank never actually "beat" Jan, but rather he struck her ONCE while under extreme mental anguish....perhaps you're confusing him with his so-called "ultimate" counterpart?

I'll agree that one strike is still abuse, but then, Jan shot Hank in the back with her bio stingers in Avengers #161, so how come SHE never gets called out?

Regardless, aside from his shrinking and growth abilities, he also invented that excellent helmet that actually allows him to communicate with insects, and has actually created an artifial intelligence, which is a hell of a lot more than numbers one and two on your list have ever done.

I'd say...

2.Dr. Doom
3.Tony Stark
4. Bruce Banner
5. Henry Pym

Yeah i've always found it really sad how Hank Pym is treated by fans.
Achieve amazing scientific feats, save the world dozens of times, act for years as a member of arguably the worlds most loved and respected superhero team etc etc.

Suffer a mental breakdown and lash out and strike your wife ONCE and from that moment forth everyone forgets he's a hero, forgets he'a a genius, ignores the circumstances and labels him a wife beater forever.
It's sad really.

Didn't Hank Pym also invent Ultron and Vision?

i like the fact that everyones using earth based charecters. i wonder who started that trend

plus, i highly doubt that tony is more brilliant than banner.

Absolutely. And it's even sadder when it comes from actual creators. Ive seen Bendis in two seperate interviews say that Pym isnt derserving to be one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. This, from the guy who recently turned founding Avenger The Hulk into a mass murderer in the Illuminatti special...

Willowhugger, back in the first post. ;)

I bet the Mad Thinker is probably the single most intelligent person in the MU, at least without being superhumanly so. As a matter of fact, he kinda blurs that line severely...

Him, or the Leader. I mean, come on. Both him and the Thinker are so smart that it borders on the extrasensory; I've never heard Reed described like that.

He never invented the formula at all. But it was said that he was as smart as Reed Richards, since he was capable of building CLOC and such, and he was always around Reed, presumably helping with science stuff.

I doubt your doubt.

While Banner is easily up in the super genius league like Tony and Reed, he's never shown to be as smart as they are.

Back in the 90's when they published the Master Edition of the Handbook the official opinion of Marvel was that Banner was not in the same league as Reed, Doom, and Magneto. Banner is a brilliant physicist but that's all he does. Others are brilliant in multiple fields, Banner isn't. Stark is much the same although I have seen nothing official about him. He makes excellent toys but that's all he does. Banner is a mere ordinary genius and likely so is Tony.

Actually, Reed is pretty much ONLY a physicist. While he does things that sometimes move outside of physics, his claim to glory lies inside of physics for the most part.

Banner's intellect was said to not be able to be measured by any test of module.

And actually, Tony and Reed are capable of similar feats. However, Reed is more of a quantum physicist, where Tony is more of an engineer, and has to endure several other fields.

If building the Iron Man armor were simple, Reed would've built one himself. Or at least had a much better way of fighting Doom from time to time.

just realized it says I put monkey joe.not sure on that one.

Reed has also done leading edge research into mutation and psionic technolgy. He has designed aircraft, created weapons, and proven capable of understanding and countering Doom on the psychological level. He has shown detailed knowledge of cultures throughout the universe. Reed did indeed design a suit of armor for Ben Grimm during a time when he was depowered that Mimiced the strength and durability that he had as the Thing. None of the Iron Man armors were that strong or durable although they did have more features.

Very true. In fact, during Secret Wars, when the villains buried the heroes under a mountain range, Reed improved Iron Man's repulsors in a matter of minutes, making them powerful enough for the heroes to blast their way out.

No order in particular. But I am only listing HUMAN people and not mutants, because some of them gained their intelligence using their powers(Forge) or their powers helped them or make it easier for them to be intelligent(Xavier).

Reed Richards - bar none. He created their own suits. Ones that will adjust to their molecular structure ... FTW! He always comes up with something designed to adjust to any situation or the person using it.

Doom - Second only to Richards, hence his anger ... add to the fact the face incident.

Tony Stark - He farking created a suit of armor for him to live. You hear me ... LIVE!

Peter Parker - He created the webshooters and he's even been recognized as extremly intelligent on a level near Richards.

Bruce Banner - we all know why. Gamma experiment.

Nathaniel Essex (Before Sinister) - Genetic Experiments.

T'Challa - uhm. Africa prairie to sustainable city with climate control. WTF!

Hank "Freaking" Mccoy(Before mutation) - PURE GENIUS! I know what I said, but his intelligence comes from his mind and not his powers. Xavier on the other hand ...
