Who are the real villains of the series?

Avi Arad.

Happy now?

Give me my sniper riffle :cmad:

All this talk of villains not being villains reminds me again that Spiderman 3 should have ended with Spiderman and New Goblin accomplishing something other than "not dying". Spiderman stopped a bigger threat in the first two, saving a bus full of kids and then the city. In the third one he should have been doing something other than trying to escape a trap set by someone who wants to kill him. Raimi was too consumed by his thirst for personal relationships to understand there needed to be more at stake, especially when he was claiming that for the third one they've got to take it up a notch.

I must admit, Raimi's thirst for the villains having personal relationships with Peter needs to stop, they took it too far with Sandman.

you damn right they took it too far with sandman, even to the point of raping the snadman and ben parker characters.

Well it's about time we got a non sympathetic villain, like with Venom. Hopefully in SM4 we get Electro and the Lizard, the Lizard can be a sympathetic villain seeing as it's Doc Connors, but I want Electro to be a complete jerk...should he be in SM-4, or heck, even Kraven.
Kraven would be the most insympathetic villian in the whole series.....Just what we need.

Er, he was, he was redeeming himself. He was going into a battle he new he couldn't win to try and save MJ. That's as about as heroic as it gets.

Yet I think Raimi would love Kraven's Last Hunt, which makes Kraven out to be some kind of insane-yet-honorable tragic figure.

Although Raimi's love is of 60's and (for some reason) 70's Spidey comics, his work is actually most similar to that of JM DeMattais, i.e. taking evil villains and explaining that it's not really their fault as their parents didn't love them enough. ;)

Kraven's Last Hunt can't be done without an R-rating, and please promise me, that you won't mention toning it down for the kids. I get sick easily you know.

If you toned it down for kids you would have nothing left anyway. A hallucinary tale of a hate-filled lunatic hunter who buries Spider-Man, then upsurps his identity to hunt a freakish humanoid rat-man, and then blows his own head off. There is really nothing about Fearful Symmetry that is appropriate for a younger audience.

Kraven's Last Hunt can't be done without an R-rating,

Uh...no? The only thing not suitable for a PG-13 movie would be Kraven blowing his brains out.

You're already a disturbed individual.

Quite the opposite. The only thing suitable for a PG-13 audience is the happy ending.

I think you underestimate just how far a PG-13 movie can take that kind of material.

I just reread Last Hunt the other night, I don't see anything there (aside from Kraven's suicide) that couldn't be done in a PG-13 movie.

Damn straight, Venom was innocent!!!:cmad:

I do agree that I was expecting a Venom similiar to what we've seen in the comics and TAS, but it wasn't even close...the ONLY good thing I liked about Venom was that his webbing was black.

Yeah, when he was on screen, he was pretty awesome to behold, but he was presented no were near his on screen potential.

We won't send you an invite:o You can watch kids say AWESOMEZ and Bernerd talk about Goblin's arsenal all you want.

Putting words in my mouth, very mature.
