The reason I ask is that I went to the Iron Man movie today and they didn't show a trailer to the The Incredible Hulk (TIH) movie. Now, I have read over and over that Marvel were going to promote TIH as soon as Irom Man was out and this included adding the TIH trailer with the Iron Man movie. So, as said, my local theatre in Ottawa (and maybe the biggest in Ottawa) didn't have the trailer for TIH at the Iron Man movie and nor did several other theatres in the States (as I have another similar thread on this subject in the Hulk forum).

So, does Marvel have any say into the trailers that are shown at their movies (like at the Iron Man movie)?

I think theaters are the ones who decide what trailers to show.

I saw Iron Man on both Saturday and Sunday nights at two different theatres. The Regal I went to on Saturday didn't have it, but the independent theatre I went to on Sunday did. I think it is the theatres' themselves, but there might be some sort of payment plan that the studios have to go through for the advertising.

I was starting to wonder the same. The theatre I was at didnt have a Hulk trailer. But when I came back here, some people were saying they saw it. And other trailers I didnt expect or see.

My theater had the new Hulk, Dark Knight and Indy trailers with the showing of Iron Man I saw.

The theaters don't have any say. They're only given the reels and whatever they get, is what they show. A lot of times, the managers don't know which trailers they will have until they get the reel. At least, that was how it was when I was working at a movie theater couple years ago.

Maybe they realized how terrible the CG in the Hulk was and asked the theaters that had it not to play it anymore but most ignored them.

I can't make a new thread and don't know where else to post this, but where can I get downloadable trailers? I'm looking for Ironman ones.

Thanks, but how do you download them? I see the trailers and in different formats, but I don't see where I can save them to my computer.

I saw the new hulk trailer with IM i also saw the new IJ4 trailer too.

That makes sense to what you said which seems to indicate the studio that is putting out the movie chooses what trailers to show. However, why would Marvel put a DC trailer (TDK showed with Iron Man at my theatre) and not put one of their own trailers to one of their own movies (The Incredible Hulk) if it was their say?

Unless it was the theatre chain rather than the individual theatres themselves.

I think it's just the luck of the draw. If you really wanted to see a certain trailer, you could always call up your movie theater and ask if a certain trailer is being shown with the movie. I know people did that when I was working and all we had to do was ask the managers. They knew which trailer is with what movie.

Yeah, I should have called up but I guess I just let the rumors get the better of me and just decided to show up expecting to have the Hulk trailer with it. I'll know next time to call for sure, though.

it happened to me in december when I went to see I Am Legend. I was expecting to see The Dark Knight trailer but it didn't show. I guess it wasn't attached to that reel. I was pissed.

I don't expect anything no more really. If it shows up thats sweet but i'm not gonna get mad cause a certain trailer wasn't played.

People who go to MOVIES to watch trailers make me sad. Who f'ing cares.

Meh. It's cool to see it on the big screen and see other people's reactions towards something you love. When I seen IM they played the Indiana Jones trailer and it was the first time I've seen Indiana on a screen bigger then my Television, so I was happy.

I go to see the movie, but I LOVE watching the trailers. They really facinate me. In fact, that's what I'm studying in college for, to make film trailers professionally.

I go to the cinemas quite often, let's say...every week in, week out, but I never saw the trailer for IM, at all. Instead, I was always treated to Step Up 2 and some other crap. It made me sad :(

The theatre itself has no say because they get a list of trailers from home office to attach to the film when they receieve it (if the theatre still uses actual film, then they splice the trailers they receive a week prior *or even sometimes the trailers will be shipped with the move reel itself* to the reel). If the theatre is completely digital, then they download the trailers they are told to attach to the movie from home office.

So dont get mad at the theatre, get mad at they're bosses who live in a different state :o

Exactly.

Seeing a trailer you're really interested in and expecting to see it (because of rumors in my case), it made my going to the movies that day much more exciting (in anticipation, that is). So, when the specific trailer didn't play, it was a big let down and kinda ruined my movie experience that day.
