I totally did. Got this thing from Netflix because it was praised so much as old school horror.

What I saw was:

****Spoiler****

Torture scenes.. oops I mean scene! That can't even be considered torture because he only did 2 things to him then killed him.

90% of the movie was just a bunch of teenagers running around say the F word every five minutes. Plus the way they cursed was annoying. They put a exclamation point on every curse word.

The fact that the last guy would follow this women all the way into that building without even starting to question things was f***ing stupid!

****End Spoiler****

You know what I could keep going, but that will only piss me off more. What did you all think?

Eli Roth is a hack that tries too hard to be shocking.

I don't understand why anyone would want to watch Hostel.

Me neither. I haven't seen it. It's one of those films in which all you need to do is see the tv ad to realize the amount of ass it sucks.

i liked it. that s*** was sick!... but i can NEVER watch it again... or would want to

It's not the quality, it's the content. People getting tortured. Why on earth do you want to see that?

Some people are sick enough to enjoy watching stuff like that.

Some? Hostel made more than 80 million worldwide and a sequel is in production.

The world is full of sick people.

I wouldn't say every person that saw the movie is sick. It is just entertainment like any other horror film and a large group of people like get a rush from being scared. It is cool if you don't like the genre but you shouldn't insult people like that.

I got dragged into the theater. I knew it would suck. I honestly think its the worst movie of all time.

Sucked.
Sucked bad.

Eli Roth....*sigh* I think I once refered to him as "The biggest, most overrated POS fanboy director that ever existed" or something along those lines :o

I tried to watch it because I felt like I was prejudgeing it too harshly. I wasn't, it was as bad as I thought, I ended up fast forwarding through all the Stiffler approved crap to the violence.

Note to Hollywood. A snuff film IS NOT a horror film. Torture is not Horror, it's a big wad of suck for the person getting the twisties, but it's not scary.

It's pathetic that a slasher flick is more Horror than this kind of dreck.

Well I must be a really "sick" person because I enjoyed it.

Lol. I guess every person who went to see Brokeback Mountain must have gay tendencies too. :o

The difference is that Brokeback Mountain, despite all the novelty and bad jokes associated with it, was actually a quality film. :o

how is that any different than watching any other horror/slasher movie? people watch movies like that for the gore. is it sick? maybe a little, but that's human nature.

i personally liked Hostel. it wasn't the 'groundbreaking' movie it was advertised as, but it was different from the norm, funny as hell, and the (few) torture scenes were great.

And I am not saying Hostel was quality. But your saying everyone who knew the content and saw it are sick. So I guess people who saw Brokeback Mountain must be homosexuals. You see what I am saying? I mean I knew the content and watched it. I even enjoyed a few small parts of it. That doesn't make me sick you silly goose.

It isn't any different.

And why watch a film that has to offer nothing more than mindless gore? Kind of a waste of time, don't you think?

Exactly. I mean why do people stop to see car accidents? Why do people stop at a scene of a crime? Why do people like boxing? Hehe. Its just human nature.

Well, I wasn't serious. It was a joke.

Going by your response to "Some people are sick enough to enjoy watching stuff like that.", you can be interpreted as saying there are 80 million sick people in the world.

Yep its always "just a joke" when someone realizes that have insulted people or said something wrong but whatever.

And I wasn't agreeing with you on the sick part just that your statement of some was off.

It's a fantasy release thing guys. It's ok to watch torture in movies because it's fake. So it's like you are watching imitation snuff but it's not actual snuff.

The movie Irreversible was basically marketed for it's brutal rape scene with Monica Bellucci. They basically sold the movie on her being raped and brutally tortured. That was the reason you see the movie.

On the Tonight Show:

"So what's this movie about?" "Well Jay, I get raped for 10 minutes."
