Who is Supernova

Wizard was giving odds..
They say its either Superboy, Booster, or Clark Kent.

They say the Cult may have resurrected him.
and Clark because he may have wanted to be a hero so bad he went to luthor.

Problem is none of the powers match...Teleportation and light powers would be a good combination. It's pretty clear from last weeks issue he does have teleportation of some sort, sending the falling people out of town...

well these are name and powers of the main members of the team.from wikipedia.

  • Outburst (Mitch Anderson) - Outburst was the team leader, and has formidable powers of Magnetokinesis.
  • White Lotus (Nona Lin-Baker) - White Lotus has a malleable Auric forcefield and was trained in martial arts by the Warlords of Okaara. She was the offspring of African-American and Asian parents.
  • Brahma (Cal Usjak) - Brahma was originally super strong and invulnerable. In the mini-series he discovered the ability to change his size as well, but the larger he grew the more petrified and stonelike his form became.
  • Pyrogen (Claudio Tielli) - Pyrogen was a powerful pyrokentic, and a hothead.
  • Loser (Theo Storm) - Loser possessed a powerful dermal force field capable of withstanding anti-matter.
  • Psilencer (Tim Thomas Townsend) - Psilencer was a prescient telepath and team tactician, killed by a gang member.
Not to mention maximum, who used the "Unimaginable"[a lexcorp device] to gain godlike powers briefly.

Yes, nothing but the most generic powers fit.

Maximum would make sense if he had retained at least a small portion of the the Unimaginable's energy but of course there's nothing to indicate that he did.

my top two guesses are Will Payton or Lex Luthor.

Yea your probbaly right it is Will payton guy. One of the supernova "clues" is that "supernova may be a name used buy many different people", simliar to how will Payton used the hero name starman, a name also used my many different people.

and as I said earlier in this thread it would make sense given Ralph's comment about Superman's disappearance being the key since Payton once filled in for him. it would also explain Luthor's reaction to Supernova outside his office window if Payton was mimicking Superman's posture and mannerisms using his abilities.

based on that interview and the page from next week's 52, i'm betting starfire dies. just a hunch, but she's wearing animal man's shirt and didn't someone say that a scrap of his uniform was found later on?

as for that last quote, it doesn't seem specific to supernova. it sounds like an idea being tossed around by the mad scientists that egg-fu assembled.

We do know that Supernova picked up Luthor's Kryptonite glove, though. And we know, from what Ralph has deducted, that Supernova's abilities aren't inherent but are given to him through a variety of techs.

It has to be someone that already has/had powers because otherwise why would Ralph had been thrown off as to who supernova is by the powers that he is displaying? And if it was Clark, why would he have thrown himself out the window to get his attention? And it can't be clark with powers from the Everyman project because 1) Ralph said it was a device giving SN the powers and 2) it's be confirmed that Luthor shut off all the heroes that got powers from the project except for Infinity Inc members.

Also, Clark said he doesn't know who Supernova is.

Say what you will about Kryptonian physiology. They came up with a truth serum akin to Wonder Woman's lasso. A powerless Clark ain't fightin' that.

Which is another thing, how exactly do you come up with a serum to resemble the power of the Greek gods? Did you...what? Lace it with Diana's blood or something?

I think you get Jesus to come into the room..

I wonder, if it IS Booster, if he sort of FORCED himself to die heroically so that he would be remembered that way. He is a media ****e; also, maybe he has a newer version of skeets, or something that tells him what will happen so that's how he knew Clark would jump out the window.

Booster does seem to fit so far. Booster wasn't exactly the self sacrificing type, so the radiation leak absorbtion story doesn't fly. With time travel ability (even if it was somehow by Skeets) he'd be able to replace himself with a corpse (even possibly his own from the future) and supernova shouldn't have been able to be knocked out so easily. he'd have location info on the batcave and it'd be a device that gives him the powers that would be different (at least superficially) than booster's (although the "teleportation glow" could be used to cover up temporal activities and a past costume was able to absorb matter and eject it). Also explains why he wouldn't want to ever hear the name Booster Gold (after the media fallout).

Not sure about the whole "superman disappearing being the key, one of two if you want to be cute", except that there are two people in the costume and that one has been a superman replacement before and those two people know each other. And now... yet another theory.

This theory came about while writing the big shpeel about booster... Here's a theory, it's Eradicator.

He's filled in for supes before, this would be the second time (hence the "2 keys" comment). The powers are different, but that could be because of some kind of repair job at Steelworks or because of some nanotch merge from the OMAC attack, either way, it would still be because of some "device". He's able to detect other dimentional beings (as shown with Mr. Majestic) and so that "imaginary story" of Supernova might now be multiverse cannon after IC. The glove from the Batcave wouldn't affect him, but he'd have reason to take it. He wouldn't want to be called Eradicator, but if you think of what a Supernova does... not much of a name change. Give SN time, he'll blow up.

Flash-er what about the pre-crisis galaxy broadcasting insignia on suprnova's chest, why would eradicator[if hes supernova] have that for a symbol?

Can you rephrase the question because I'm not following at the moment. the symbol on SN's chest is the same as some symbol from a pre-crisis broadcasting symbol? are you talking about COIE or Infinite Crisis?

neither its Earth-C jesus

Earth-LMNOP Jesus.

Can't wait for the next issue of Jesus: Man of Steel..
He is going to the anti-matter Universe to fight Anti-Jesus..
Oh and do you guys remember that time he met Bizzaro Jesus in Jesus: Legends of the Dark Knight?

52's editor Steve Wacker confirmed awhile back that Supernova's costume Insignia is the same as that of Metropolis's fictional TV station Galaxy Broadcasting System. Which was owned buy Morgan edge, and is where clark Kent and Lana Lang worked as anchors in the 70s era comics.
