Im actually getting sick of these alien invasion movies where they just decimate cities. I want Darkseid for Justice League but im just losing interest in another alien invasion plot. When you have Avengers (probably the 3rd movie will have Thanos so count that one too), Pacific Rim, Man Of Steel, War Of The Worlds, Independence Day, etc, etc. You just run out of new ways to tell an invasion story.
At least MOS didn't have monsters destroying the earth. I accepted it more because it was a fresh re-telling of the origin for the first time in 35 years. But it's still the same concept. Obviously they'll have to scale back for the Superman sequel to avoid repetition.
I saw Pacific Rim last night and it was a cool fun movie. But I don't know where else they can go with this concept. With Darkseid they'll have to dig deep to find a storyline that is worth it. Show different planets, space, as many continents and areas of the Earth that they can. The scope will have to be OVER the top. Which means an insane budget. Even then, the way they approach Darkseid's entrance into earth must feel fresh. That's going to be hard to accomplish. Which is why I loved the suggestion a while ago about bringing the Justice League into Apokolips, into a different environment. Have Darkseid hit earth at the start of the film, without stepping foot into our atmosphere, then in some explainable fashion the League can take it to them and reverse the invasion. Of course, that would involve scenes with Batman that I may not be comfortable with (I prefer a Bats who is as grounded as possible not up in space) but it's worth a shot to change it up.
Im burnt out with the idea quite frankly.
