Inhumans Who Should Direct The Inhumans

What's with Marvel's obsession with Adam McKay? Outside of the Anchorman movies, he sucks.

Step Brothers, Talladega Nights, Eastbound and Down, and even The Other Guys wasn't that bad.

He can't suck that much. Look at the movie he is making now. "The Big Short" will be McKay's first drama with Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling. That's one heck of an impressive cast for a movie from a guy who "sucks". Plus, McKay's screenplay for this movie must be damn good as all four of those actors took massive pay cuts to be involved. And McKay is a huge Marvel comic fan. He knows Marvel's history.

Adam McKay writing and directing something like "Inhumans" doesn't sound that outlandish. In fact, I'd be excited to watch a superhero film from the guy.

Yeah, they were (in my opinion at least).

Obviously but you were wondering why and I was letting you know, the titles I mentioned are looked fondly upon by many and I assume Marvel higher ups as well.

That movie wasn't on my radar. You're right, that is an impressive cast.

I would like to see Kenneth Branagh direct another MCU feature film, so him to direct the Inhumans. I really liked Thor 1.

Not a bad idea. He's said he had a good relationship with MS and would be open to returning.

Since it is a TV show now I vote for Joss Whedon to direct all 8 episodes...second choice would be Tim Miller lol

Tim Miller, I believe, has already committed to other projects. That being said, if anyone could make movie quality effects on a television budget, he could.

Anything Tim Miller is doing is probably less awesome than working with the MCU

I don't want Wheadon's quippy dialogue anywhere near the Inhumans.

That guy who was supposed to do Ant Man but left...Edgar Wright

I cannot imagine BlackBolt reacting to quippy dialogue but a dead awkward silence. And thr Inhumans talk strangely compare to your everyday people so that wouldn't be nice if Medusa, Karnak and the others throw a punchline every now and then.

It depends on the approach. If we see the Royal Family for the first time, shouldn't they have been living in isolation for years in Attilan with no contact to the outside world? Realistically, they shouldn't talk like everyone else. Unless some of them have been living in the human world in secret.

I will be curious to see who they get to direct the IMAX premiere. It wouldn't be surprising if they get a feature director to work on the first episode or so.

Roel Reine

Director Roel Reine (“Admiral,” “The Delivery”) will help bring “Marvel’s The Inhumans” to life, helming the first two episodes of the upcoming series!
Roel Reine was born in the Netherlands, and with his first theatrical feature “The Delivery” he won the Golden Calf (the Dutch equivalent to an Academy Award) for Best Director. His 2015 movie “Admiral,” an epic historical Dutch language movie, had a very successful theatrical release worldwide. In 2015 it was the only Dutch movie in the Netherlands’ top ten box office, right in between “Jurassic World” and “Furious 7.” The movie tells the story of a 17th Century Admiral, Michiel de Ruyter, who protects the Dutch population from a civil war between two political factions while defeating English armadas in massive sea-battles. In 2016 Roel directed his first American television series “Black Sails” for Michael Bay and STARZ.

“Marvel’s The Inhumans” will premiere a version of the first two episodes first in IMAX commercial theatres, marking the first time a live-action television series has debuted in this manner. The series, produced in conjunction with ABC Studios and filmed entirely with IMAX digital cameras, will run worldwide exclusively in IMAX for two weeks at the beginning of September 2017. ABC plans to then premiere the weekly series in fall, with additional exclusive content that can only be seen on the network.

After James Gunn and The Russo brothers, I'm pretty much open to anyone directing.

As long as the have some experience directing anything.

Indie directors seem to be seamlessly crossing over big budget projects all the time. (Colin Trevorrow, Gareth Edwards etc).

Marvel seem to have a safe structure that guides there directors regardless of there experience. Some may even criticize it, but it so far, it has led to a consistent level of quality.

Sure, but look what happened to Aos and the second season of Agent Carter.

I don't think directing screwed AoS or Carter s2. I think it was writing, first and foremost.

They didn't have the duo that directed the first Captain America film. I felt having those guys helped AC's first season. then without them for the entire second season, the whole thing just fell apart.

I just feel like the choice of director is just quite uninspired especially if they really want to get people excited. Its Marvel, they could definitely hire a film director to direct two episodes or at least a TV director with really good résumé. Not someone who directed straight to video movies. I am not even familiar with that Starz show.

The first Captain America film was directed by Joe Johnston who has done literally nothing on Agent Carter. I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
