Who should play Red Sonja?

We have dozens of "Who should play Wonder Woman" threads in the other forums so I decided to do a Red Sonja instead, which was announced to be scheduled for a 2008 release.

Just to be clear here, this is not a remake of the film with Brigitte Nielsen from the 1985 adaption. This is an entirely new movie.

So, any suggestions?

This is going to be a hard one, considering there aren't many red heads in Hollywood. And those rare few of whom who are, more often than not wound up dying their hair a different color later on. Of course any given actress can dye their hair red for the part, but its very difficult to change your hair color to that of an extreme, and make it not look fake.

I wish I could think of a good able bodied (and hard bodied) actress to play Red Sonja, but none come to mind.

sonja is suposed to be tough enough to go toe to toe with conan yet feminine and gorgeous. tough combo. the more musscle a woman puts on the less feminine her body tends to look. hmmmmmmmmm tough one.

Not possible. Most females now are skin and bones and any bulking up wouldn't be enough to give them what Sonja needs. And any that are currently that buff would look too masculine for the geek crowd. I'm down wtih Biel doing it(yes, I know) as she has the body and face for it imo.

According to Luke Lieberman from Dynamite Entertainment, the actress playing Red Sonja will be A-list, and Brigitte Nielsen is definitely not in the movie as IMDB says. He also said they're trying hard to get away from the first movie, and make a GOOD one this time.

Possible candidates could be one of the women from this list, as Lieberman referred to a page listing these women as having "a bunch of them" (considerations for the role).

He also said that the page "didn't get everyone on our list" so there would be other actresses to choose from as well.

Everyone on that list aside from Biel and Loken are too old for the role. Jolie I could see doing it IF she wasn't so self important right now. It might be beneath her at this point in her life.

Lilly's the same age as Loken.

i agree. not only is biel painfully hot but watching blade trinity she had muscle on her and still looked gorgeous.
