Comics Who should survive Spider-Verse?

According to this interview with Mike Costa, Peter's spider powers never returned.

Good interview. Sounds like this book in good hands (and not some flash-in-the-pan talent). Referencing Peter and MJ's move to Oregon means he really knows his continuity (now if only the colorist could stop making Ben's gloves all red, but I digress). I'm very excited for the book.

Speaking of Peter and MJ in Oregon, I lucked out at a comic shop recently and they had all these bound-together back issues from the Clone Saga. I guess they were having a sale on all things clone saga, so I was in nerd heaven. I got the complete Sensational Spider-Man run up until the end of the Savage Land arc (even though that was right after Ben died), a whole bunch of Spider-Man Unlimited and Spider-Man Team-Up issues, the complete Hobgoblin Lives mini (even though that was also post-Ben), the complete Redemption mini-series, complete Funeral for an Octopus, and my personal favorite rediscovery the complete 'Spider-Man: The Final Adventure' about Peter's "last" adventure in Portland when he thought he was the clone. I forgot how good it was. That, and Redemption are two forgotten gems. It was great to have all these books again.

He was okay as the third, amnesiac clone.

When he became Spidercide, a hulking creature who could form like water….. that's when the character got really stupid.
That was Maximum Clonage. That's also when he died. So, he really wasn't that way for long. Just one month, 7 issues...
Alpha, Amazing, Web of, Adjectless, Spectacular New Warriors and Omega

Great Find!
When I sold all of my books about 10 years ago, I accidently sold the ENTIRE Clone Saga Series'

Yes, Plural...

I had the original as well.
And all of the Jackal, Gwen and Carrion Issues... Everything that tied into the Clone Saga. I was so pissed when I realized.

Are you taking about the epic trade paperbacks?

normally, I would say you have my sympathies, as I despise the entire clone saga to no end to this day STILL, but you're one of those that, for some incomprehensible reason, you LIKED it, so I guess I'll just say that I know what it feels like to give up on a run of comic stuffs that you're into...

sorry, Kaine...

Loved those two and Lost Years. The writing was so great in those books and I really feel a TV series base off of those, if written equally as well, would really be awesome.

A couple seasons like the Lost Years, following Ben around. Then a season Based off of Final Adventure (after a movie about Ben returning to NY). Follow that up with Redemption and end the series with Ben's death. That would really do well I think. Mainly because almost all of those stores are really just down to earth, realistic, and out of costume (for the most part...except Redemption), something that thrives on TV when it comes to comic book properties.

They did state during numerous introductions of Ben to Pete's supporting cast, and Pete to Ben's supporting cast that they were "cousins"...

Why not with SpiderCide? I have always said that if the character was handled correctly he could be really good. A scary arch nemesis for Spider-Man that really is on the same level as the hero.

Nope i don't like him. Never have he was a joke when he was created and was never something I could take seriously

lol no. Just joking….. I'm sure you're not the only person who sold a bunch of 90's Spider-Man.

Read Spider-Gwen!
That's not her character name, that is what us fans call her!
That book was amazing! no pun intended!

Yeah, Edge Of Spiderverse #2 took me way by surprise. That was a fantastic read and really fun take on the character, one of my favorite Alt Spideys out there already. Definitely Looking forward to more appearances of Spider Gwen, and hopefully more exploration of that world she's from.

Speaking of Ben Reilly stuff that has been accidentally given away, I still cant find a replacement Ben Reilly spidey nightmare in scarlet t-shirt. That was my favorite shirt back in the 90's.

An interesting thought just occurred to me. Can you imagine the rage that Norman Osborn might feel when he looks out at this sea of spider-people during the spider-verse story and sees Ben Reilly (of all people) virtually leading the charge against morlun? I mean for the longest time the death of Ben reilly was one of Osborn's chief accomplishments in his "victory" over Peter Parker. Once he see's Ben in person it's basically going to bring that chapter to a grinding halt. It's going to be Norman's "wtf" moment for sure.

I agree. I love when Norman gets pissed and loses it over something Peter-related.

Norman really needs to regain his memory of Peter's identity. Their confrontations since he forgot have lacked that certain spark. A lot of people disliked the Lex Luthor-ish incarnation of Norman from the 90's, but I loved it.

I doubt Norman's going to see any of Spider-Verse playing out, it's not like he's hanging about in New York after the events of Goblin Nation. I'd guess he's not even in the country anymore.

Oh he'll still be monitoring the events of sider-verse for sure. From the solicits I've read this battle takes place all over the world.

man that was a terrible issue...
Also, the backup was there to what, just kill off the different Animated Series?
I'm really starting to hate Spider-Verse.

You know what shouldn't survive Spider-Verse?
Dan Slott's career as a writer.

Seriously, who does this appeal to? Either you like the universe and you'll be disappointed/angry at how Spider-Verse is ruining it (like Amazing Friends, or Spider-Girl) or you don't care about the alternate universes in which case you're probably disappointed/angry at all the pointless and overly deaths that Spidey isn't stopping.

I certainly don't feel like the tensions are being raised, or that Morlun's a threat. I'm just getting annoyed at seeing one of my childhood heroes, and different adaptations of my childhood heroes, getting killed distastefully and needlessly.

Same **** with Superior Spider-man. Slott just being controversial for the sake of it.
Best case scenario, when the Spideys get to Universe 000 or whereever they reset the universes and things go back to normal. But that's not gonna happen obviously. What probably will happen is now whenever I reread Spider-Girl or rewatch Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, I'll do so knowing that all these characters I'm watching, and enjoying got brutally murdered for some cheap drama.

At least they aren't doing Petra Parker in the comics...that character was a horribly sexist and rude moron in the cartoon episode.

if you don't like the books don't read, drop the book. I loved AF when i was kid and i have all the DVDs. I really don't see what the point is getting angry. it's a bit of fun. we all knew Spider-Men were going to die. so Slott's killing a few off. it makes sense that some of the lesser Spider-s don't make it. when 616 Peter faced Morlun, he was prepared he knew Morlun was coming. and that statement about watching AF knowing that in the end they get brutally murdered isn't exactly true. as the cartoon is Earth 8107, the ones killed are from Earth 1983. you're childhood isn't destroyed at all there's no need for hyperbole. Spider-Girl isn't even dead............yet.

The drama and tension is fine comics are supposed to be fun. I'm really sxcited for the series as it's cool seeing who's next and what kind of fight the put up. if it helps anyone already on a team probably won't die.

yeah that's true, i was trying to be gentle though, it's blatantly obvious there's going to be more. after all no-one seems to be all that bothered Spider-Man Unlimited got off'ed mind you that cartoon was rubbish.

if only he'd kill Disney's Ultimate Spider-Man.

Point being if people are going to get upset and annoyed at Alternate Spider-Men or women/girls getting killed maybe they shouldn't read Spider-Verse.
