Alone that "Careful, it's heavy." made me chuckle. There are funny, moments, just not hit you in the face with a shovel kind of funny.
What do you guys think of the Trek movies' humor? I personally wouldn't mind it if MOS was similar.
I think the tone here is totally different. That said, I just hated the humor in the first Star Trek movie. At one point (giant hands) it felt like a stupid big-budget space sitcom. I liked the second one much more though.

I don't get the humor complaint.
When I want laughs I go see a comedy. I really don't get it. We go to superhero movies because of the drama and the action, the characters, right? I don't need laughs in there. For me, those "funny" scenes in Batman Begins and Dark Knight for example, really took me out of the movie (like when the Batpod destroys the sidemirror of the car when the guy is picking his teeth, or the kids who shot fingerguns at the cars).
Humor is also the reason why I never feel fully invested in Marvel movies (apart from Spider-man), because as soon as it plays like a comedy it looses almost all tension and drama for me.
Man of Steel was perfect in that regard. It was no comedy, but I was smiling all the way through, since it was hopeful and fun, without winking at the audience. I really hope they keep that tone. There is no need to copy the comedy style Marvel does, especially when DC wants to differentiate themselfes.
Sure, the humor fits with Iron Man and Spidey, but Superman is not a jokey character, so I am glad there is not that much humor.
In the end I can only take a movie as serious as it takes itself and therefore enjoyed MoS much more than all Marvel movies, as much as I liked them.
MoS had me at the edge of my seat in the final fight and when the thing happened I was in shock! It was great! That can never happen in a Marvel movie, just as it cannot happen in a comedy.
So, no. No more comedy than in the first film.
Blockbuster movie have to be a little bit of everything. Without good Hurmor the GA will lose interest and start to slip into a mini depression while watching the movie. The movie doesn't have to be a series of jokes like Ironman 3 but It needs a good bit of comic relieve. Build serious tension and the relieve it every once in a while. It's all about dynamics.
All those Kryptonian lives lost, how is that funny?!?!Didn't people find GPS Russell Crowe/Jor-El guiding Lois through the ship funny?

"Gus" Gorman. He'll bring the comedy in the sequel.

I personally found the Trek movies to be more hilarious than most of the Marvel movies, and I loved them. Just because a movie is serious, doesn't mean it's more profound. And a funny move doesn't mean it's all fluff either. I think creating funny moments that are genuinely funny is very hard, and I always respect a movie that can make me laugh. For me, it's always the lighter and funnier movies that I watch over and over. I really enjoyed DK and DKR and even have DK on bluray but I have never gotten to urge to watch either of them again. I actually feel Superman lends himself to the feel good tone of the Marvel movies more; he is supposed to be a beacon of hope and a reflection of goodness in people. I didn't feel like MOS was as bleak as many are making it out to be though.
