Seriously. I know it's because it's waaaaay early in production and there's really no news, but it still drives me crazy that this place gets like two posts a day.

I want to talk about this movie and talk about it HERE! I refuse to go to IMDB or start posting on a fansite.

The first photos of the actors in costume will bring truckloads of people here.
But consider this. Lots of people here on the boards don't read comics.
They just know the characters from the cartoons, th movies and the tv series.

That's why I'm thinking that even when production is hitting its peak as far as info coming out that board will still be significantly slower than most others here.

I come by here everyday. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the graphic novel.

i check it out as often as i can. i notice there are only like 10 people that come here on any given day. it sucks. but as stated above, this is a "superhero" movie website, so most of these people know them from movies and tv. and while i don't read all THAT many comics either, having not been blessed with quality comic shops in the area, i have read watchmen. no matter how little you read comics, you have to read watchmen. it's like the bible of comic books. but this board will never get traffic like the others. but at least the few of us who do come here will be have more to talk about once there are pictures. and then maybe we'll get 30 people here! =D

On the brightside, we'll probably never have to deal with "WAnT CPtn METRLPOLS in AT!!!!!" or "Mr. Thau please create Doctor Manhattan rule the world scene"

;)

it's true, there won't be as many stupid people because there aren't enough people who even know anything about the source material. most people will come here and ask what watchmen is.

it will be interesting hearing impressions of the book as more people begin to read it.
yeah, i wonder if the kind of people who loved spidey 3 and x3 will actually like watchmen. but i think this is one of the few graphic novels people will go out of their way to read because those who have read it will put it over more than anything else. people may say "you need to read the long halloween." but anyone who has ever said watchmen tells you that you truly, truly NEED to read watchmen. obviously, it is special because it creates and ends its universe all in the same book. in 12 issues everything is told. the complexity of a 60 year run condensed into 300 pages or so. truly amazing.

we just need new neus. or a crazy attention stunt by stormin norman like "hay guise im gonna dress up like a blue penis and blow up a skewl :woot:  "

I would love to post more often but Im actually still reading watchmen, up to the part where Dr. M takes Laurie to Mars, and I would finish it today but I have a sh** load of HW still...

Tell you've been avoiding spoilers on this thread!

This is pretty much the only movie I care about on these boards.

I am here everyday, but don't post unless I have something to really add to the conversations.

Or Gifs...I love posting Gifs!

oMG DR manhattns is teh bomb.....HAHAHAHAepiclulz

I just watched Little Children to see performances from our Dreiberg and Kovacs. I think Wilson will be perfect; Haley's performance is rather encouraging.
I seem to remember that the Malcom Long/Kovacs exchanges were omitted from the Tse scripts... Am I out of my freaking mind? If this is the case, then how much "face time" (i.e. -- Rorschach without his mask) are we goiong to get with Haley? Only the hot fat assault/prison riot/prison break sequences? If so, that's too bad. Haley's physiology and ability to exude menacing creepiness without doing, well, anything is perfect for Rorschach.

The Malcolm Long shrink sessions are still present in both Tse drafts I've caught... but in significantly shortened versions and so therefore far from being correct. The real gutter was that all of that great Rorschach "Stood in firelight, sweltering bloodstain on chest like map of violent new continent..." monologue that takes up a whole page in the comic had been extensively trimmed. Instead, just a single short paragraph of script covers the entire exchange, ending abruptly with "God doesn't make the world this way. We do." which is kinda weak compared to what we get on the page, with talk of rudderless worlds and metaphysical forces and all.

The lines that could arguably have won the actor playing Rorschach major critical kudos are all but swept away. Sorry Jackie... no second Oscar nod to be had here, I'm afraid. :csad:

Well, pricipal photography started today, so we'll probably be able to get some pics of the cast in-costume any time now. just keep your eyes and ears open.

speaking of which, are there any vancouver-based hypers? if so you oughta sneak onto the set with a camera.

Thanks for the clarification, although it's kinda depressing. I'm most worried about those scenes... I mean, if any dialogue should be rendered d-i-r-e-c-t-l-y from the text, it should be those exchanges between Rorschach and Dr. Long. (I mean, the Academy considered Haley for jerking off and speaking in baby-talk...)
