Homecoming Who would you want as the reboot love interest?

This thread may be a bit pointless, but I just wanted to gauge everyone's opinion. Keep in mind that Marvel's plans include the love story receding to the background a bit.

I think that at least three of them should be introduced, like in SSM. Maybe have Gwen and MJ as close friends instead of just one as the set love interest.

If it's with an adult Peter Parker, MJ obviously. If they start back at the beginning, I'd love to see all of these ladies introduced in one form or another. Maybe they could even introduce Betty as Peter's first girlfriend. People always seem to forget about her. Most of all, I'd love to see a Gwen-MJ friendship of some sort (and of course, a better take on MJ and her relationship with Peter than the Raimi version).

I feel I had more than enough of Mary Jane (although I wouldn't mind a better actress and treatment this time around) and Gwen died. To be fair, it's already been 7 years and 2 films since we've seen any MJ. It's amazing though what one subpar portrayal can do to people's perceptions of a character.

Wouldn't surprise me if Marvel shelved her though. I'm interested in seeing Peter and Betty, but not at the expense of rounding out Peter's supporting cast. If they're going back to the beginning, hopefully, we'll see "the gang" this time around.

As important of a character Gwen is to the modern character of spiderman, I think we gotta go with MJ this time around. But IMO, they might as well add the death of Gwen Stacy to his backstory and subtly address it if peter' sold enough

Betty can be short for Elizabeth (and that's exactly the case with Betty Brant), which was one of the top 10 baby names last year. Looking at a few likely years Betty Brant would be born in the current MCU (early 90's), Elizabeth consistently showed up in the top 10 female baby names. Elizabeth is literally one of the most popular names in America. No need to suspend disbelief on that one.

I'd just prefer that they didn't follow the same story beats that we've seen thus far, and for the love of God (or whatever floats your boat), make the relationship have an actual arc; let there be some semblance of a challenge and something to root for. In other words, don't have them simply come together because it's in the script ala TASM. Another approach would be to have them established as a couple.

My hope as well.

I also would like the proper MJ intro where Pete ducks the blind dates and we get the "Jackpot" scene.

Also like to see the Pete & MJ scene from issue #122 play out after Gwen's death.

I liked that Gwen really wanted to be with Peter in SSM, but felt a bit left behind at times. God, it's going to be hard to top Stone.

The symbiote story could be awesome if they had the patience to hold off for a good long while and do several other stories first. Imagine Marvel's Secret Wars as the end of Phase 5 or so, with Spidey getting the black suit during the film. That'd be a good setup for a proper Venom story.
