Why did Starman call Superman Kal-L instead of Kal-El in JSA

I am just wondering if anyone knows why Starman called Superman Kal-L instead of Kal-El?

Kal-L is the name of Earth-2's Superman.

I know that what I am wondering is why was he talking about him like he was still alive or was it really Kal-L they pulled in through the rod. Because it really doesn't make sense really talking about him on New Earth.

i like earth-2 supes. i find him more interesting then new earth supes. So it'll be cool tosee him come back alive and dieduring the final crisis.

Kal-L was never in the ground, he was in some wierd Hyperspace thing with Lois and Alex Luthor, and Superboy Prime.

And, besides, that may just be how he thinks it's spelled. They sound the same, anyway.

That could be, but the way Johns described how Starman talks about things out of context or they may seem irrelevant , is relevant later on.

Like Starman knowing and laughing about 52, "the doctor without a face (Dr.Destiny)", the Polar Boys and Color Kids (relating to members of the Silver Age LoSH), etc. I think he gives out tiny bits of information. He did initially get off course heading to "New Earth"(Earth 1),when he traveled to the Kingdom Come Earth and that could of made his brain that much more fragile. Its interesting to see both the Karate Kid and Starman staying on New Earth and not returning to their Earth and time.

I was confused if that was Brainaic 5's reflection in the rod, or a different person in JLA 10#. It would make sense if it was Barry Allen, or it could be E2 Superman. I wouldn't mind his return, but make it final that you want to keep him dead or alive after this, referring to both E2 Superman and Barry Allen.

It would make a lot of The Lightning Saga make more sense, but then why does New Earth's Superman remember them from childhood?

That's what I figured. If you consider the changes Kal-L went through in Infinite Crisis (losing and then regaining his faith in Earth's heroes), his personality in Kingdom Come would make sense. Maybe the KC Superman dies or something and Kal-L winds up on the KC Earth to take his place for the main events of Kingdom Come.
