First Avenger Why Does Everyone Want a Body-Building Captain America?

Actually, Cage's Southern drawl in GR made sense, as the movie took place in Texas.

But his lame performance and the terrible writing made me a hater.

I thought the kid that played a teen-Johnny Blaze did way better (and that is not saying much).

There were too many lame-ass 'quirks' added to the Blaze character.

Now was that Cage's fault or the writers? Perhaps a little of both? Truth is, I don't know.

What I do know is that Cage has a brilliant and dazzling performance inside of him - it's just a shame that he has a tenancy to smother this potential with ham.

Lots and lots of ham.

And jelly beans.

Agreed. I think Cage is a great actor, but his recent film choices have been horrible. I think he may have had a bit to do with Johnny Blaze's weirdo personality in the GR film as well. Maybe not, but Cage strikes me as the type of actor who thinks he can "improve" on characters in movies but all too often, such improvement winds up being painful to watch.

Damn straight;

'Cage strikes me as the type of actor who thinks he can "improve" on characters in movies but all too often, such improvement winds up being painful to watch.'

Couldnt have put it better myself.

He was good at the afore-mentioned Rick Santoro character in Snake-Eyes, and plays a droopy hick well (like Con-Air and Raising Arizona). But bottomline... his GR was a 10 on the "raging-pissed-disgusted-o-meter".

^ same here... I really wouldn't call for it, or prefer it... but in the realm of things that I would be raging-pissed-disgusted to see it happen... it would be pretty low on the my raging-pissed-disgusted-o-meter, for comic movies. Nick Cage's performance as GR being a 10, a Texas drawl on Cap would be a 3.

But I am in 100% agreement with Wallace about the concern of a muscle-bereft Cap.

So... what would be worse on the raging-pissed-disgusted-o-meter??? A Texas drawl, or a muscle-bereft Cap??? hmmmmmmmmm

I don't usually imagine Cap as a Texan, but I could handle that. What I couldn't handle though would be a skinny guy padded out with foam.

Cap should be built like Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. Or slightly slimmer as Craig was in Quantum of Solace.

Whoever they get to play him better have a sick chest. I think Cap's pecs are prob the most noticeable feature about him(aside from his chin! lol)
