First Avenger Why Does Everyone Want a Body-Building Captain America?

Yeah...and he's been typecast in all the Badassenese roles... poor bastard! When will he land one of those Colin Firthenese roles?

Rage

Damn those casting agents and their need to typecast! Sean Bean in a romantic comedy opposite a horrible American actress pretending to be British would rock!! :whatever:

Rage

Hey, as long as people don't think all British people look and act like Hugh Grant; I'm happy.

Just half of them.

The other half look and act like Vinnie Jones.

Its a generality. Not all citzens in the UK look "British"... but there are certain characteristics that can make a person look like they are from specific regions. It may be hard to pinpoint. He reminds me of Sean Bean. I think its his hard shaped nose and the height of his cheekbones. He has a very anglo saxon, western European look to him.

For example...

You can't tell me this guy doesn't look Russian...why does he look Russian? Can you put your finger on it? There is something there (maybe you can't put your finger on it, but its there) that tells you he's eastern European.

Maybe its my artistic eye, but it is something that I pick out.

Rage

High/pronounced cheek bones is usually a feature that sticks out as "Russian", so I guess it's that.

no, there's more. I can't really explain it.

I think it's the shape of his nose and eyes, plus his cheekbones, that make him look stereotypically Russian.

I think people need to realize that in reality a person with a fitness level equivalent to Cap would be much leaner then he is portrayed in the comics. He would have much more a gymnast's physique than a bodybuilders or a wrestlers. Some size is important agreed. But I agree with the poster that said overall the actor should be in really great shape and have excellent definition.

Oh and MM's accent is way too think. No way he could get rid of that southern drawl and Cap aint no hick!

Bottom line-I think we all just want a reasonably toned & well-defined Cap. He doesn't have to be built like Ferrigno, but the 90's comic book movies were filled with padded pretenders who had no muscles-

and I don't think we want to return to those days.

I'm sure Val Kilmer had plenty of muscles.

I don't think it would be out of character for Cap to be southern.

I would be OK if they made Cap a southerner... but he was from NY wasn't he??? Just checking...

And yeah... Kilmer is a pretty fit dude... certainly he was at the time of his Batman performance (granted, the suit's muscle tone was beyond his own nature physique). But Keaton obviously needed help.

And just as a side note... padding the turtles was no big issue.

God, this takes me back a few years; I remember a fair few years ago on a Batman Begins thread concerning Bale's physique someone saying that Kilmer hadnt done any gym work for Batman Forever so I posted a couple of screencaps to the contrary.

He looked pretty good during Forever.

1-Cap can't have a Southern accent.
2-Kilmer still had no muscles as compared to Bale.

3-no, it wasn't a big issue. I'm simply saying I don't want to see another padded, muscle-bereft Cap.

Normally i'd agree. Cap shouldn't have a southern accent, but since it's Christ Wallace, I think he should talk like Foghorn Leghorn.

It wouldn't be my first choice, but I think it fits with the character.

^ same here... I really wouldn't call for it, or prefer it... but in the realm of things that I would be raging-pissed-disgusted to see it happen... it would be pretty low on the my raging-pissed-disgusted-o-meter, for comic movies. Nick Cage's performance as GR being a 10, a Texas drawl on Cap would be a 3.

But I am in 100% agreement with Wallace about the concern of a muscle-bereft Cap.

So... what would be worse on the raging-pissed-disgusted-o-meter??? A Texas drawl, or a muscle-bereft Cap??? hmmmmmmmmm

Equally.
Funny-you're ripping on Cage & your screen name is Rich Santoro.

LOL... he did play Richard Santoro in Snake Eyes (although the hero, he turned out to be a cop on the take)... And Pesci played Nick Santoro in Casino, a psychotic mob thug that got clubbed to the brink of death and buried alive in a field. Rodrigo Santoro played... that Xerxes... thing, in 300. Man, there is no love for the Santoro name in Hollywood. Well, Mike Santoro cashed in the US Poker Championships three years in a row. That is something I guess.
