First Avenger Why Does Everyone Want a Body-Building Captain America?

I completely agree! If they can't act give em' da boot! Yet still people shouldn't be stereotyped just for looking muscular or hot like Megan Gale and Ben Ryan.

Everyone laughed at the thought of "The Rock" as an actor at first but he went and proved them wrong. Ben Ryan will do the same. He's not cocky like Dwanye Johnson but he's very confident. Captain America will always come out on top.:cwink:

Wheres the proof Ben Ryan can act?

The Rock paid his dues. Im sure no one was happy when he was doing Scorpion King, the movie sucked. But he worked at it and got experience and learned. Now hes interested in Captain Marvel franchise and people are warming up to the idea. Why? Because he proved himself. at this point Ryan is just some muscle bound meathead lifting tires and throwing logs in the worst videos on youtube.

Captain America is a multimillion dollar project with a gigantic fanbase to please, the future of a young movie studio (this could make or break Marvel Studios), and technically controls the fate of another multimillion dollar crossover movie. Some guy who happens to bodybuild and have blonde hair isnt impressing anyone when you are working with those kinds of odds. this is not a movie Ben should be cutting his teeth on.

And tenth at the Teenage Nationals ain't bad being clean and that meant at the time he was the tenth best built teen in the nation without steriods like the others took.
Every state has "Nationals". It means "National qualifier", not "out of everyone in the nation". The fact that he didn't come in the top two (usually just the top two) means he didn't advance any further. So, no, it did not mean he was the tenth best of all the teen bodybuilders in the nation:whatever:.

And I love big Ronnie. "Light weight babyyy!" Ronnie is alot bigger than Ben but Ronnie is on GH and the like. Big Ben in clean and still looks perfect and HAWT!
I talked to Ben about steroids. I'm not telling you whether he took them or not, but he competed in IFBB, that right there should tell you something.

Whomever plays captain america is going to have to be in the best shape of thier life. Marvel NEEDS to get a director and cast an actor, so they can get moving on this project. Remember that CA and Avengers will basically film at the same time... and the lead for cap will need to be in awesome shape...and that takes time.

I mean Captain America is basically the Zenith of physical human potential...that means he's gotta have that p90x body.

The thing about the Rock is that he always had charisma. And that translated well for him on screen.

A lot of documentation and rumors pretty much confirm Steve Reeves juiced a little bit. If they are a bodybuilder, and they competed, at any time when that sport was considered Bodybuilding they juiced...they all juiced...every.last.one. Sergio went on record to say Reeves took steroids, and he dealt them to Larry Scott and Kurt Marnul...most dealers take. Also his one quote about steroids "I didn't take them, they didn't exist back then" is inaccurate because they absolutely did exist.

That's disappointing. But we do have bodybuilers today who don't juice up and are still muscular. If they can show it's possible then it's a valid standard.

Yeah, I would rather have someone who looks like they could turn around without pulling a muscle...or atleast be able to reach back and wipe their own a$$.

Then you should strike out Matthew McConoaughey as a candidate. He's got short arms.

Nope. That's wrong. That wasn't from a "state" National. That was the USA teenage nationals. He was tenth in the nation in his weight class whatever that was at the time. That's what he wrote me.

And he never was an IFBB Pro. I talked to him in NYC. He retired young after deciding not to take the juice (steriods or GH).

I swear that guy is built like a war machine! And the fact that he's flexable and can do tons of stunts makes him perfect for the movie. And you can tell how hard he works in his vids that he really worked for his hawt bod. And I take his word that he's clean.

Yeah, I have those in this state too (I went to them this year), it's a National qualifier. If it were the National competition he would've told you he came in tenth in the Teen Mr. Olympia. The Olympia is the final competition, not the Nationals. I know, I've competed. Hell, I found his contest photos for you, and he didn't look all that great (by his own admission).

Stop lying. The first time you told this story you couldn't even get his name right.

It used to be she remembered him from the acting competition and tell us vague things about him but remembered people calling him Steve Rogers and now it seems she had whole conversations with him back then. Oh the webs...

Robert Hoffman should be Cap.

Y'all never thought you'd get a cap who could dance, did you. :word:

Vaguely remembering some actor doing a police monologue >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> remembers intimate details about his life in acting, bodybuilding, his history (or lack thereof) of drug use and personal training.

By the way didn't "she" now say "she" was a personal trainer. Ben Metzger is a personal trainer too. Fancy that.

Once again that's wrong. Ben was the 10th best in the nation at the NPC 2001 NPC Teen National Championships.

Ben is listed as 10th. I take his word that he was clean. The show wasn't drug tested obviously and you can tell by some of the winners. I HAVE GOT TO GET SOME MORE BODYBUILDING PICS FROM HIM!!

Anyway the more a certain person here continues to try to defame Ben just shows severe jealousy, insecurity, and hate.

......

And Major you're right. I was just lucky enough to be able to talk to him once in NYC and see him perform and I'm learning more about him just like the rest of us.

I see you are a liberal like me SB. You say all these things about Ben here behind his back but you have yet to say you emailed him and had the guts to tell it to his "face."

LOL! Are you encouraging hate mail? Thats the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my entire life.

Why do you think people wouldnt say it to his face? Because hes muscular. Does he often lash out at people who critique him? You make him sound like a big immature baby.

I have absolutely no problem politely saying that I do not think he should play Captain America just because hes blond and has muscles. I will not bother to email him this because there is absolutely no reason for me to do that. That is incredibly rude thing to do. If I meet him face to face I would not tell him. I will not insinuate that he would be a bad Cap because username: Pluto is so persistent in suggesting him on an anonymous message board for a role he will most likely never get. If it came up in casual conversation, I would very much tell him he shouldnt be Captain America with no problem.

As an objective 3rd party here, I never once got the vibe that ShadowBoxing was personally attacking Ben... but instead stating his opinion about his potential casting in this movie.

It sounds to me like SB has done some homework on Ben...digging up alot of info on him that none of us has been able to. And kudos for doing that and making Steve Rogers/Steve Ryan/Ben Ryan into the now Ben M.

Has he stated his opinion on his acting ablility? Yeah. Is he bad mouthing him? No. Its not a personal attack, its his opinion of his acting. I wouldn't e-mail the guy and tell him I think his acting sucks either...that IS a personal attack.

The winner of those competitions get nothing besides a trophy and *possibly* a pro-card (although I've seen qualifiers where the first place guy gets diddly. Depends on the talent involved). If he was the tenth best in the nation, people would be paying him to Bodybuild. People in those competitions don't have sponsers (unless they actively get some through their own local contacts) and they don't get paid by the NPC in any way, shape, or form. It is a QUALIFIER. Get that through your skull. I worked at the Junior Nationals THIS YEAR backstage. I KNOW what I'M talking about and some bullsh** dictionary definition means nothing. Otherwise Mr. Universe would actually compete against the Universe.:whatever:
