First Avenger Why Does Everyone Want a Body-Building Captain America?

Ryan Renolds is....er.....CANADIAN!!! There...I said it. I've outed him.

Now how do you feel about him playing Cap? ;)

I never really thought he was a good candidate. Aaron Eckhart...on the other hand, would be perfect.

As for Captain America looking like a bodybuilder, I think he should be like Batman, someone who's in great shape, but not ridiculously ripped.

That's definitely not true.

It's totally possible to come off a movie like that and get serious and be taken seriously.

name one individual out of that main cast who is considered a serious actor/?

Vin Diesel did 'Find Me Guilty'....but that's been about it

Besides just not liking Paul Walker for Cap. I've got a funny reason why I can't see him as Steve Rogers. One time my friends and I were watching Fast and the Furious and we had to hit pause for whatever reason. Once everyones attention came back to the TV we all busted out in laughter. In the scene Paul Walker was laughing or something and the paused capture of his expression was identical to Beavis. Ever since we call him Beavis. So there, I can't see Beavis as Cap. Ever

^^ I would say that Diesel is a serious actor...

Moreover the point was that it is possible to come out a movie "like that" and be taken seriously...

that's what happens when you do 'Fast and the Furious'

That and almost everything else he has done. It doesn't help that he has a surfer voice and delivers lines terribly either. There's no defending him, he is just handsomely bad.

Yes, that was the point.

And Diesel has done well...better than Walker, anyway.

I've never liked Walker for Cap. He's too pretty and too surfer.

Vin Diesel as Captain America would be an utter disaster.

Lol, I would say none what so ever. I couldn't take Diesel seriously in any movie if you paid me.

No different than Bale playing Batman. :cwink:

Reynolds isn't my first choice obviously. But I definitely would've added him to the list it wasn't for Blade: Trinity or Wolverine. He definitely needs a serious role though.

As I said before, Cap is a hard character to cast. Whoever gets the role has to have the "look" and has to have a strong presence, strong acting, and so forth.

I'm not hatin' on Canadians...I am a Canadian. I just know that there is an idea out there that Captain America NEEDS to be played by an American actor.

I think that is ludicrious...but I can kinda see the logic there...a bit.

Im American, I think its a bit ludicrious, but I couldnt stand listening to the media talk about Captain American being played by someone not American. Its a little thing that wouldnt even matter but there isnt too many impressive candidates who arnt American for me to put up with that.

I like Vin Diesel in Saving Private Ryan, Pitch Black and Boiler's Room. Besides those he is terrible.

And whoever thought someone was suggesting Diesel is wrong. Nobody suggested him at all.

Also I doubt Marvel would cast someone who isn't American.

But there isn't much good material for guys like him. It's easy to typecast actors after their first major films.
