The Dark Knight Rises Why doesnt Nolan give more nods/easter eggs to the fans?

Ugh.....................at this thread........................

Leave that stuff to Marvel. DC deserves a better class of films and Nolan's giving it to them.

Exactly, TIH had lots of easter eggs but I honestly don't think that it made it a better film in any way.

Nolan doesn't do that b/c he doesn't need to. Let's look at Iron Man. Iron Man was chock full of nods and easter eggs. Would IM have been as good of a movie w/o those? Yes. But it wouldn't have been as fun. TDK, has almost no nods and easter eggs, but IMO it blows IM out of the water. Nolan is making a good movie that delivers on so many levels, it doesn't really have time for eggs. He's more concerned with making a good movie that pleases the fans. Favreau made a movie that pleased the fans, and was good, but it had an "added bonus." I personally don't care if Nolan uses eggs. I got my Batman and I'm happy.

Nolan is a director who is trying to please as many people as he can by making a fully immersive and engrossing movie... for Everybody.

I'd rather have a good movie... rather than a 'who can spot the comic book Easter eggs/ nods' game-show!!

If I can speak for myself, I think every idea you mentioned are bad. They wouldnt make Batman Forever better. And Im not totally against easter-egg things. Both these movies' has some nice ones; Zsasz, Jokercard, and possible Barbara Gordon(and I love that they dont show the face). but these you just suggested are terrible.

If you look real close in the background of the R & D department at Wayne Enterprises, you can see a prototype for Wonder Woman's airplane.

Hi

SPOILERS FOR TDK....

After watching The Dark Knight four times (most recently in IMAX- sweet!), I started to think... "Nolan could be building a bigger world here IF he wanted to...". Now don't get me wrong, I think Nolan has done a superb job, but here are some examples:

-Why is Gordon's son the "focused child" in the movie? Why did Nolan give him a son? Why not make it Barbara Gordon... sure, she's only 12 years old, but it would be a great little nod to the fans who know in the comics she becomes Batgirl years and years later. Why didn't Nolan use the daughter? she was there (though her face was NEVER shown).... hmmmm....

So thinking about Batman 3.... even if Nolan does not want to do the "unrealistic" villains in Batman's rouge gallery, why not include their alter egos, if they fit well into the script?

If Batman has to visit a scientist for some research.... have him visit Victor Fries or Kurt Langstrum...

Do you think Nolan has done a good job including "nods" to the fans? Do you think he should do more in the sequels?

For example:

-We see Gordon's daughter's face and get a nod about her Heroic future.
-We see a billboard for "Flying Graysons" at Hailey's circus.
-We encounter the alter ego of unrealistic villains.... Victor Fries....etc.

The irony here is that he asks for easter eggs yet is completely oblvious to the fact that using james jr at the end as a focus in itself is an easter egg to the climax of Batman: Year One

Is it so much to ask for to have Michael Keaton (or Val Kilmer) as a fake Batman? :woot:

(West + Clooney would be too recognizable, in a way)

fanservice is balls. did anyone honestly enjoy the 'juggernaut *****' scene in x-men 3?

I :lmao: my butt off. I mean, it just added to the amusement level of that entire movie in general, so...yeah why not?

I think there are enough fan-driven nods in TDK, but they're not very obvious, not like the obligatory Stan Lee cameo or a prop directly in view.

Like, I remember the whole argument here over why Batman should have white lenses, and they actually found a way to put them in there. :funny:

The best Batman movie EVER made, which is also setting the mark for all superhero movies, isn't good enough?

Let's just be thankful for 2 amazing films shall we? :woot:

The audience I saw it with laughed at that. I was kinda shocked. Then I laughed. Then I went home and cried.

I think Stan should give it a rest. It was amusing the first 50000 times. Now it's just obnoxious :o We get it Stan, you are a media-****e and the Marvel universe belongs to you, yadda-yadda-yadda :o

Not only is it good enough, but its SO good enough that we have to make it a little bit worse.

I dunno, it's a fun nod to the fans, but yeah. It's rather predictable now, isn't it? :oldrazz:

There's apparently nothing else to complain about. :hehe:

The virals had all the easter eggs (Iceberg Lounge, Edward Nashton editorial, laughing fish, etc), but I wouldn't mind some slight onscreen nods to things.

am i the only one who thinks the cat line had nothing to do with catwoman?

Bingo. All the way down to Batman saving the kid by catching him from falling.

Seriously, how many easter eggs do people need? I'm also not totally convinced that the "cat" line was a reference to Catwoman (but I do hope that is was because I want to see her done right in a movie, finally).

there were like 10 nods to batman 89....so i don't have a clue what you're moaning about.

There were plenty of Easter Eggs

Bruce's scarred back - Nod to War on Criime

Courtroom scene to Harvey Dent - Nod to Two-Face's comicbook origin

Heck, the Joker's plan to corrupt Harvey Dent is a giant Easter Egg to the Killing Joke.
