The Dark Knight Dark Knight and Oscar...

Will be nominated:

Best Supporting Actor - Heath Ledger
Best Supporting Actor - Daryl Satcher

May be nominated:

Best Cinematography - Wally Pfister
Best Costume Design - Lindy Hemming
Best Make-up
Best Sound
Best Sound Effects Editing
Best Editing

Should be nominated but probably won't:

Best Original Screenplay - Jonathan and Christopher Nolan
Best Director - Christopher Nolan
Best Picture

Won't be nominated because of stupid rules:

Best Original Score - Hanz Zimmer and James Newton Howard

That's more like it.

What's the stupid rules that would keep Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard from getting nominated for Best Original Score?

Let's hope Heath isn't nominated, he might split the vote! :cwink:

Haha yeah. Nah, I think Daryl's classy enough to decline a nomination in honor of Heath.

It has to be by a single composer.

That and they might get even more technical and say that parts of it were re-used from Batman Begins. One of the rules is no previously recorded works, even if it's from another piece you yourself made. That's why Jonny Greenwood's score for There Will Be Blood got disqualified, cause he used parts of it before on one of his solo albums.

Yeah that rule sucks. I didn't know they made a rule like that. I've listened to the score and it sounds amazing. 'Why So Serious?' is so intense. I love that. I really wish they were eligible for nomination.

Despite how awesome BB & how awesome TDK will be I do think that they honestly are blockbusters underneath it all, no matter what the Academy will never recognize blockbusters in their serious categories (serious, keep telling yourself that). Watch Returns & '89, big (well medium sized) films but really don't look anything like or conform to how a blockbuster should be, but I'm NOT in any way saying they are better.

The Academy may end up retracting much of its hype of the film imo. The bias is strong against fiction, and itll take a few TDKs to shatter that boundary.
