Just what the title says! Why is everyone on this forum so mature, both in terms of biological age and behavior? I swear, I might be among the youngest users here (17).

I mean, the only other forum that I have been to that wasn't littered with trolls and immature fanboys is the Zeldauniverse forum. The Godzilla forums are absolutely polluted with these kinds of people: even the older members in their 20s and 30s tend to act like children and whine whenever somebody disagrees with their opinion.

Why is everyone mature here?
You might not be looking at the right places then. :o

Everyone isn't mature here. But I think (and some will disagree with this) that the moderators do a better job than some other forums.

Everybody here is a farthead poopypants.

sometimes I find some people here acting and behaving on a par with pre-schoolers... pre-schoolers act more well-behaved and well-mannered than what some of the individuals here act like... I usually back away from these characters when a discussion gets a bit hot and heavy and stupid.... let THEM get the inevitable probations or bans... none of those for me, thank you...

This place is filled with teenagers and adults that act like teenagers either by choice or by some chemical imbalance.

I joined 9 years ago and this place has changed over time. It used to be a lot more wild and a lot more fun. Hype Survivor was the chit 6 years ago. Now...2 people would sign up.

The days at this place for me blend in together so I can't gauge changes.

Go to the Fantastic Four boards. Seriously. It's two factions in a flamewar the entire time.

when it comes right down to it, in different threads and on different subjects, you have a handful of individuals that I refer to as 'the bickering boneheads and clucking hens'...

Because life happens.

Every mistake that I made, every lesson that I learned and every obstacle that I faced made me the person that I am today and looking back, I was like so immature by the choices that I made but without those, what would shape my life?

Life is just a learning experience.

This poster obviously wasn't around for our new year's baby tossing contest.

There is nothing more mature than discussing Tobey Maguire and his mean dance skills and his turkey neck.

Just my $0.02. By all means, ignore.

The one thing I notice the most around here (and maybe some will disagree), is that the level of passionate hate for some things is supposedly coming from a place of being a loyal fan, but it ends up looking like anything but.

I get very confused by how much hatred I see towards a particular movie or show (most of the time for movies that aren't even out yet), and then they turn around and claim that they're doing it because they're "real" fans. Real fans don't do that. If you're a fan of something, you take the good with the bad. We're in a fortunate position where we're getting films we've never gotten before, and it might not last forever, so we should be enjoying every minute of that.

We're getting Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Thor in the same movies together - what is there to argue about? We're getting Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman in the same movies together - why would we bicker about anything? Ten years ago, just the concept of these movies was a fantasy, and we were in no position to be so demanding of the most minute details, and yet here we are.

The biggest examples off the top of my head, in no particular order, are the hatred for the upcoming Fantastic Four, "Arrow", and Man of Steel. There are literally millions of people who watch Arrow and have zero complaints about it (same with Man of Steel), and you'll never see them on SHH. That's because they're at home watching it and enjoying it, and really, I'd say those people are fans moreso than a lot of people here.

I feel like a lot of posters are here specifically to complain. That's great - but don't call yourself a fan. I feel hatred on some of these boards waaaay more than hype or fandom, to the point where I forget that this place isn't called SuperHeroHate.

Mature is a relative term nowadays.
There are plenty of teenagers on these boards.

Are you voice-over narrating the last scene of a John Hughes movie or something?

Cue the music:

I first started posting semi-regularly when I was around 12 (and I went by a different username until just weeks ago haha), and learned immediately I had to type legibly and not be a nuisance like other 12 year olds on the internet if I didn't want to get completely shut out. I wouldn't say this place is a haven of maturity, but the moderators do a pretty good job washing out nuisances, and aforementioned people that act like typical 12 year olds get dismissed quickly.
