A growing number of states have been banning vaping.

Aren't cigarettes far more dangerous?

Well, cigs are def more dangerous but they get tons of tax money off of them that they currently don't get from vaping. Plus there is a lot of ignorance around vaping. Another weird thing is there are studies being done that are all over the map. Some studies say it's almost risk-free and others say it is more hazardous. I think this is due to there being so many varieties of vaping from over the counter ones to mods and all that jazz. Since it's new it's kind of the wild west right now

THe scary thing is I don't see lawmakers debating the possible dangers of vaping. They just secretly push to make it illegal and you just see the headline in the paper that vaping has been banned locally.

I guess it comes down to cigarettes making the government way more money. But it's still scary how little health and science have to do with public policy.

It's called a knee-jerk reaction.

Personally, I can't wait to get back to vaping (smoking is cheaper at the moment unfortunately) but the easiest solution is a simple excise tax on vaping products. Boom and done, everybody's happy.

I'd also like to see the "smoking" sections reemerge as vaping sections. You know, for the nostalgia :woot:

Because regular smoking looks cool and vaping just looks plain stupid. :o

Honestly, I think whether vaping is dangerous or not is irrelevant. People should be allowed to inhale whatever weird stuff they want to inhale. If private businesses like restaurants want to ban vaping I support them, but I'm not for state-wide or city-wide or whatever-wide bans.

I actually think smoking looks the dumbest.

It just screams "I only started smoking these cancer sticks to be accepted by cool people but now I'm addicted, my breath is foul and I will die an early death".

They are banning it because they saw what it did to DarkSentinel.

They will kick you off the bus out here if you vape. What's funny is they have a sign that says "No Smoking, this includes e-cigs" as if it's on the same level as smoking a cig on the bus

I'd say 99% of it is due to being linked to smoking and it gets pushed due to most people not being able to or not bothering to find out the difference.

Also, people are morons.

I don't want to breathe your second-hand mildew breath. Take that **** outside

I can spot an asshat based solely on whether or not they've got a vape pen in their mouth. I had a sound design instructor in film school that would be going to town on his little vape pen during our classes. Never in my life have I wanted to hit someone in the head with a brick that badly.

"too close to sucking a robot's dick" :o

Regular vaping I don't mind at all but it's the guys with the $300 mods that want to blow gigantic clouds of vapor that I think are asshats. There is a time and a place for everything

Vapers should have the same common sense considerations as cigarette smokers. Vaping in a library? In a movie theaters? It's insane.

Exactly. I mean, I've been a smoker of all sorts since college, but it's ridiculous that people want to be able to vape everywhere as if it's not affecting anybody else. Be considerate of others.

I do think it's silly that it's being banned in some cities, had no idea that was happening, and it makes little sense beyond a monetary reason. There's also very little research in terms of its affect on health, but I think it's pretty common sense that it's like other forms of smoking - not good for you, but if you want to do it anyways, be my guest. Just be considerate of others who don't want your vape in their face.

its not about the dangers or health risks of it

like anything else people just took advantage of a legal technicality

"oh, I can use it where ever I want there's no law against"

This I do agree with now (in hindsight I did become an asshat)..if it's something like a Blu or a Logic, something small that doesn't produce major clouds, that's ok. But mods should remain outside for the convenience of others.

I don't think people understand.

1) Vaping is being banned in entire cities and states, not just bars, airports, etc.

2) Vaping may not be completely safe but it's a hell of alot safer than smoking cancer sticks yet ciggs aren't being banned state-wide or city-wide like vaporizers.

3) Making fun of people for vaping doesn't make sense when these people are just looking for a healthier alternative to deadly cigarettes.

Finally, I have an ally. Sawyer and Phantasm perpetually harass me about it :o
