Why isn't there a new godzilla game coming out?

Surely everyone who has played rampage would love a new godzilla game. I know my friends and I would love some multiplayer kaiju action.

I would probably play as mothra just for the laughs.

Would anyone else like to play a current gen godzilla game?

That would be cool, especially with the Legendary/WB movie coming out and 2014 IS the 60th Anniversary of the big guy. At best, we'll get some meh mobile game.

Some of the developers of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, Unleashed, and Save the Earth are working on an original kaiju game in the same vein as those. They've talked about licensing other monsters like Godzilla for DLC after it's out.

I'd like it to either be an open world destruction game where you can play as different monsters.

What would you guys even want a Godzilla game based on the new movie to be like? It seems so serious, it wouldn't seem appropriate to have that Godzilla stopping around, body-slamming other monsters, and throwing buildings at them.

I think PC is the only announced platform, but a console release is TBA.

Yeah, it will be a while. As far as I know, the main game is on hold so they can release a smaller version based on Kaijuland.
