I think it is safe to say that the Spider-Man franchise has had great success with the story they have given us.

So why do the movies need to follow any over arching storyline for two movies? Don't get me wrong, they need to have some base of material, but why should it be one comic book storyline for two films? Why not have a completely original storyline for two films.

Well, Sam really created his own storyline for these films, but added some elements of stories from the comics and put them in this franchise. So, if you ask me, the way they are going is fine.

Pieces and bits of KRAVEN'S LAST HUNT and some classic elements from THE LIZARD stories. Combine the two to make a solid story.
