Butler didn't want Harry to think his father killed himself. Once Spider-Man shows up and Harry refuses to help the Butler tells him that so he can go help. Simple as that.
numbers dont lie as well

numbers dont lie??? what an ignorant comment......box office numbers dont mean anything in regards to a films quality....spiderman 3 could of been as bad as batman and robin or catwoman and it still wouldve owned the box office in the 1st week....the build up, the marketing.. the fact that it is the sequel to 2 immensly popular films both financially and critically meant it could not fail...at least in the box office...sm3 was the best of the series and maybe one of the best superhero movies....numbers dont lie as well
Huh? Restoring balance? Wait a second. I'm not a fanboy, I'm not even that big a Spiderman fan, but even I could tell you that SM2 is leagues ahead of SM3. I mean, why disregard the bad parts of it, why wear rose colored glasses? Because you are sick of seeing all the bad parts discussed? Well this movie was supposed to deliver, and it really didn't. I didn't buy into all the hype and it was still underwhelming. I mean, Sandman just ****ing flies away? Thats it?
"I accidentally killed your uncle"
"...I forgive you."
"Bye"
Ground breaking.
I guess his kid is going to die then, but hey, we don't know because none of his loose ends were tied up, and who knows whats going to happen with SM4.
Of the Spider-man movies ... (Wow, I'm going out on a limb here, and I hope I don't get flamed or butchered in the process ... just my opinion, so stay with me.)
The reason why Spider-man 3 is the best Spider-man film to me isn't because it was entertaining, it wasn't because of Venom, it wasn't for the black suit, or because it was fun, or more like the comic book than any of the other movies. Throw all that out the window.
The reason it's the best is because Spider-man 3 is the first super hero film to have the balls to do something truly innovative.
The entire theme and statement of the movie is FORGIVENESS. How unique is that? Its kind of a put off at first, but if you buy into, it becomes a revolutionary idea for this type of movie. That's NEVER been done before. It gives the film a very unique sensibility.
With superhero movies it just gets you pumped up for the comfort zone, yet potentially cliche good guy v/s bad guy routine. This movie questions all those motives, theories and stories. Villains that essentially were good people at one point, who went bad, and instead of being so black and white, we see our hero have the HEART to forgive people who have wronged him. THAT is awesome. And by god if they had just cut a few things out, and focused more on their strong points thematically, from various actors, and character subplots ... this film could've been EVEN BETTER. Spider-man 3 as of right now is officially underrated. And once you guys come around, I'll be the one standing here saying "I told you so..."

Actually, their was more dialogue and emotion than that. But nice try.
Actually no, that was the basic idea
Well of course there was, but basically that was what happened. He apologized, Peter forgave him, and he flew away, apparently getting away with all the destruction and murdrer(s) he committed. Not sure how you can argue with it, but thats what happened.
Hey if you bought into it and actually liked it, more power to you. To the rest of us, it was a crock of ****.

^I don't think bad luck has anything to do with killing someone. Oops...I got drunk and accidentally ran over someone...my bad. I was holding a gun in your stomach and it accidentally went off...OOPSIES!
Umm......yeah.
That was about it. Spare yourself believing that 2 more sentences and a flashback scene was groundbreaking. Had they actually had emphasis on Sandman and gave him Doc Ock treatment, he would've been so much better. The same goes especially for Harry. So much animosity between him and Pete for 2 movies, and it all went to waste.
How about an actual conclusion to the Sandman character. Because I didn't see one. If thats what you think is a good job, well then I don't know if anyone can say anything to dissuade you.
I don't want to fight over this topic. I felt they did a good job. If you think you could've come up with something better I'd love to hear it.

I already did.
Had they emphasized on Sandman and gave him Ock treatment, they could've wrapped up a proper conclusion and gave the ultimate redemption/forgiveness scene more meaning/purpose. Better than some "I was just beating the hell out of you 2 minutes ago. Killing Ben Parker was an accident. I'm sorry. Bye Spidey."
Yeah, I know.
