Why SPIDER-MAN 3 is the GREATEST

Nothing was crammed. X-3 was crammed. This movie gave us over 2.5 hours and placed everything (except Venom) very well.

You bring up an excellent point here, and I hope Fox learns their lesson. This is a 2 1/2 hour movie with alot of stuff in it. X3 was a 1hr 40 min movie with alot of stuff in it.

I am praying that FF:ROTSS will have at least a 2hr run time.

it ain't i have never been so let down in my life. Finding out santa wasn't real never hurt has much as that film

imho SM2 is better than BB but that is an argument for another day :o

I understand why. Its kind of hard to compare the two. BB was more like an actual "movie" movie. Its hard to explain in words. That doesn't take anything away from SM2 though, because they pretty much nailed it in that movie what Spiderman is about.

I don't know about SM3 being the best but no way on this EARTH is SM3 one of the worst that is a frigging insult!

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. If you mean its not one of the worst movies out there, then yeah you're right, it isn't. People are saying its the worst Spiderman movie. Its not even in the same league as SM2 and it falls short of what SM1 is.

In complete agreement. Everything about this film was a let down, from the script and direction to the fx, battles and THAT FREAKIN' DANCE SEQUENCE... I hate, hate, hated it!

Spiderman 3 is as good as Spiderman 2 which means
It’s two of the best superhero movie ever!
"So far"
The Spiderman franchise is going to be tough to beat for sure.

Spiderman is simply what a real superhero movie is all about and supposed to be!

Spiderman 3 is GRrrrEAT

I specially love that scene when sandman first slowly and painfully reassembled himself though the sands
This is what I’d call a genesis scene!
One can compare it with the bible scripture!
You know when God first shape Adam out of the earth itself
I’ve never seen a scene like that before
And I think that Sam ramie or whoever came up with it did a wonderful job
It’ a masterpiece of special effect indeed
It made that scene in terminator 2 prehistoric, which is exactly what it is nowadays because these kind of special effect has quite evolve since then .

The more I analyze this movie, the more I like it. I admire Raimi for both his boldness and his moxy. He gave us a movie that doesn’t feel the need to hold the viewers hand or the need to connect every dot. He assumes a viewer is intelligent enough to shift through inconsequential matters and that’s remarkably refreshing. He doesn’t feel the need to waste exposition on the nature of the Sandman or Venom’s powers. Just watch, learn and enjoy. Watching Peter’s first experience with the black suit and the intoxication it provides leads to a crisp and complex internal struggle that plays out masterfully. Peter becomes addicted and starts to look to the suit for a boost and even to overcome insecurities. If you’re smart enough, you pick up these nuances and you enjoy the film even more.

There’s little doubt that Raimi has made an outstanding movie that flows perfectly and draws upon the work he’s already done with this franchise. Supporting characters from the previous films are used with surgical yet powerful precision. Aunt May’s few scenes are vital as she continues to serve as Peter’s moral compass. Even the landlord and Ursula from the second film serve a poignant purpose and add to the rich depth Raimi has built. It’s obvious that Peter has won over the cranky landlord because Pete’s a likable man of character. Peter’s taking advantage of Ursula not only serves to illustrate his dark turn but adds more perfect humor to the film. Raimi also manages to make the most out of the one new non-villain character he introduces in Gwen. Not only is she integral to the story but her early interaction reinforces everything we know about Peter. Despite being a near intellectual genius, he knows little about relationships and affairs of the heart. Gwen serves as an antagonist to MJ but manages to remain likeable throughout. Even Harry’s butler Bernard steps up and helps this movie to flow.

To retain a crisp yet intelligent movie, knowing what to omit is an important as what to show. I don’t need to see Peter looking for any remnants of the black suit after he recovers from the trauma of separating himself from it. Transitioning to him in the shower then on with the story is perfect. I’m smart enough to understand why MJ breaks up with Peter on the bridge. She truly fears for his life because Harry not only wields incredible strength but he’s clearly maniacally twisted and has the money and resources to more then follow up on his threat. I also understand that Sandman isn’t the sharpest tool in the drawer. He’s every bit the loser his wife accuses him of being. He teams with Venom because he knows that Spider-Man really tried to kill him. As is the case with the Uncle Ben robbery, he clearly didn’t think about the consequences of his actions. After partaking in the battle royal, it makes perfect sense that he would simply quit fighting after confronted with those consequences. Again, it’s masterful work.

What’s really remarkable is that Raimi manages to play both sides of the fence. He offers tremendous wild action for those not smart enough to follow the intricate character motivation and development that’s been unfolding for three films. He also allows the viewer to pick up the little nuances and enjoy this movie on another level. Fans already know why Venom displays spider powers or why he doesn’t set off his Spider-Sense or why Sandman can become hard enough to smash concrete. Non-fans don’t need to deal with explanations because it offers nothing to the story itself. It’s a masterful juggling act. Knowing that you can’t please everybody, Raimi made the film on his advanced level. If you can follow along and appreciate the movie on his level then, great. If not, tough luck. Just enjoy the action and leave the complexities to people who aren’t interested in nitpicking the flaws that appear only in their own mind. For the rest of us, this movie is a real treat and it truly deserves every box office record it’s already earned.

Sam, is that you? ... LOL

Great post. I totally agree. Everyone should read what you wrote.

I watched the movie yesterday and I've been amazed about it... Sam managed to give us a Peter Park's movie, full of emotions and not only an empty Spiderman adventure.

Sure I wanted more Venom... Sure I wanted more Black-Spidey... Sure I wanted more Gwen... But i was satisfied with what I got and the feeling of wanting more is great!... I can't wait for SM4!!

I loved Spiderman 3. I think it's the most fun of the series...and sure it combined a lot of stories....but in a weird way it worked for me. Im glad it wasn't like Spiderman 2 pace...that movie had too many long boring moments that put me to sleep...this one was exciting all the way through. It's how I want my summer movies.....to entertain me. It had humor, action and emotion. What more can u ask for. I seen it 2 times already

I agree. Which is why I'm so surprised why Spider-Man 2 is held in such high regard.

It has the most boring parts in any Spider-Man movie and the fight scenes with Doc Ock were nothing spectacular. Heck, Spidey's fight with Gobby in 1 was better.

I guess fanboys like BORING superhero flicks (Superman Returns, first half of Batman Begins).

The first half of Batman Begins was something that was never explored before in any Batman movie and was the best part of it. Not to say the second half was bad, but its about time we get to see the origins of Batman finally.

I don't see why people think Spider-Man 2 or the first half of Batman Begins are boring, but to each his own. However, Superman Returns can't be defended. It was absolute crap.

And this thread has officially sunken into immaturity. Can't we respect other peoples opinions, children?

Why because its true !!

it's true that spider-man three is one of the worse superhero movies ever made?

well to each their own. I thought it was one of the best just not THE best. for me the best ever is SM2. BB is flawed as heck for pity sake you can't even see what is happening half the time (great movie though).

 This is exactly how I feel about the movie. I know it sounds trite, but I think SM3 is operating on both a popcorn flick level and a smart level, at least as smart if not smarter than SM2. One gets a sense that Raimi's leaving it to the audience to make the necessary connections, instead of beating us over the head with "development", so that he can get more done. Everyone's so up in arms over what wasn't properly explained, but the fact is, we got it, non-geeks got it, and everybody else who generally gets it got it. Sam was confident in the general audience, why can't we be?

Its not really that we don't understand the movie, its just that the way he tells it is a mess. Its not necessarily a horrible movie, but its in no way as good as the previous two.

I know you understand the movie, and I think most people can. That's my point.

No way. SP3 was easily the best of the trilogy.

As for the dance sequence...you can't look at it as a mere dance sequence...it was probably the most EVIL act that bad Peter did in the film. Think about it...first he takes a woman into the very club he KNOWS MJ is working at.

Then, to top it off, he does a little number that takes ALL attention away from MJ and onto him...what's the thing that was really bothering her? The fact Spiderman got all the attention while her stage life was falling into the gutter. Bad Peter knew this and knew it would just completely gut her.

That's downright evil.

SP3 had WAY more story and character dynamics than either of the other two films...AND better action.

I.............

let's just say that I've seen more evil things than that on Seinfeld.

Well I have to agree with you actually it has become my favorite SH movie, and my overall movie in history, beating out Terminator 2 which was hard to do. The reason why where surronded by a bunch of *****y fan boys, is because the movie didnt meet there exact specifications, Venom wasnt portayed well? well honestly he isnt that good of a villian to begin with, Topher and Sam did the best they could with the villian. James did a magnificiant job with Harry and the best actor of the whole movie, right behind him was Topher who actually made me feel what he was feeling. Right behind him was Thomas who did a marvelous job with Sandman and even though he wasnt on screen for as long as people hoped he pulled the character of nicely and made me feel for him. Maybe I feel this way because Ive seen the movie 4 times already(only because I get in for free, cause I work at the theater) and finally Venom has a ****ING tongue, so fanboys stop *****ing.

i totally agree with you. i know its not evil in the sense of going out and murdering children, but when you really think about in the context of MJ and Pete's relationship it is downright evil
