i just picked this up and have watched it twice, 3 times counting the theatre, and one thing that struck me is that he never does anything(aside from throwing the tank really really far) strength wise that spider-man can't do. i mean that big ball when he first hulks out, he had so much trouble lifting it, he eventually chucked it pretty far, but spidey should be able to do that. twisting the tanks nozzle or ripping the top of the tank off are things spidey should be able to do. but like this stuff should be childs play for the hulk. he never did anything really impressive strength wise, especially nothing that would make him look like he can trade blows with supes.

lol... yeah Spidey can rip the top half of a tank ...

Ang wanted to Hulk to be alot like a Human, hence why he changes in the movie alot. When the first Hulk-out happens, he's actually born then. So he's weak, hence why he couldnt carry that Gammaa Sphere. In the desert sequence, he's like a teenager, hence why he can take on tanks and helicopters and Jets. At the end of the movie, he becomes a full grown man, hence why he can take on his father.

He seemed pretty tough to me. Of course, the Hulk's strength is measured by his anger, and there were only one or two scenes in there where he really Hulked the #$%& out. We haven't seen anything of Secret Wars proportions yet, but I'm sure the sequel will explore the upper limits of his strength more thoroughly.

Wouldn't exactly call the Hulk weak. Between tearing tanks apart and surviving a free fall, that no normal human being would survive. There lower level things, but honestly it a basic origin film. He was at normal strength and doing his share of damage.

i knew someone was going to say something like that:oldrazz: but seriously the Thing looked as strong or stronger in FF and in FF2 he looks way stronger, holding up the London Eye and all
anyway spidey should be able to tear the top off a tank, spideys in the like 20-30 ton range now since he grew up and got some powerups to boot.

I agree to an extent..... Hulk wasn't nearly as strong as he should be. That said, he had his moments. Like the tank throwing and the earthquake he caused by hitting the ground towards the end of the movie. These two things Spider-Man can't do. I doubt the Thing could do as well. And even if the thing could, I believe Hulk would get stronger and eventually surpass the Thing, though, as said, I doubt the Thing could tank throw like the Hulk or cause an earthquake by hitting the ground like the Hulk.

i forgot about the earth quake:csad: i think the thing could toss the tank, the earthquake i dunno, but w/e thats not what this is about

He really didn't seem insanely strong to me... maybe it was a SFX budgeting problem... i'm not sure

He didn't go as far as he should've. I was more ticked off that that tank shell actually scratched him, but I guess they had to do something to show his healing power. The problem with the strength thing is that he really didn't have any challenge thrown at him that would call for that much strength, other than throwing the 500 ton boulder at the end. Without a sufficiently powerful adversary(Abomination, Juggernaut, for examples) there's really no cause to do something so impressive. The only thing I could have imagined would be if he did a thunderclap that lifted those 60-ton tanks like leaves in a tornado. That would've been cool.

It would take a 10,000 ton exertion of strength for the Hulk to do what he did to that tank in the desert if you look at the real world physics. He didn't just lift (press) it. He swung it around like it was made of tin and threw it out of visible sight. Spidey has exhibited about 12 tons of stopping force when pushing himself to the point of near-unconsciousness in Spider-Man 2 while stopping that train with the aid of webbing. To me, that's the end of the story. The Hulk is listed as around 100 tons in force with the natural ability to go much higher than that. This movie showed me that, and much more.

well he sure had a lot of trouble lifting up that metal ball generator thing at the beginning

I don't know, he kinda did take a bite out of a missle, fall from almost outerspace, twirl a tank around, survive a boulder & rock avalanche, take a tank shot to the chest, fight off three gamma-radiated dogs no matter how corny they were, and a gun turret to the scrotum. I give him an A+ in the strength department

Bless Sava,
that's what i call "seeing" a movie....
Typical, basic, archetypal yet so hard to find for most of us

uhm. Spidey can rip a sentinel in half. A tank is no competition

we are talking about the movie here, if we were talking abuot the comics, Hulk still wins, he held up a f**king mountain, Hulk wins, Nuff said.

That has nothing to do with what you said. You said it as if its improbable that Spidey can rip open a tank, when thats far from the truth.

i was talking about the movies, and yeah, Spidey cant do it, the best he did was stop a train, Hulk fought Helicopters, Hulk dogs, Tanks and for a change, jets. Hulk wasnt weak in the movie, he did way more strength based things than Spidey. Also, this was Hulk's first movie, Spidey didnt do ANYTHING that was close to what Hulk did in his first movie.

Q: Why was Hulk so weak?
A: He was Asian.

Bruce Lee, pound for pound, the strongest man that ever lived. Thats what specialist say, not me.

However, The Hulk did get angry enough to lift that damn thing and throw it right? This definately wasnt like Jack Nicholson's attempt at lifting something heavy in One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest. ;)

As far as Hulk looking weak goes, I can't say that was ever conveyed to me. As Abaddon said in the post above this one, The Hulk appeared pretty damn strong. Any thoughts to the contrary should have been dismissed when he was swinging around a tank.

actually that feat belongs to lil hercules...

i'm also fairly sure body builders of today in his weight category would trounce him
