SO MUCH FOR "INNOVATION"....

"We had a chance to check out a couple of different segments in Red Steel to help define the gameplay a little bit. The first involved a series of gunfights throughout a building, where you actually had to use the nunchuck controller for movement and the Wii-mote for aiming, a nice twist added to the otherwise typical first-person shooting formula. Aiming takes some slight adjustment, thanks to the fact you actually have to point at the Wii system instead of the TV screen, but it still works like a charm, letting you pull off crucial shots, like some devasating head blasts and room-clearing strings of shots that allow you to build up combo moves. There's other firearms as well, but the pistol is nothing to be ignored, having enough power all its own."

SO, YOU'LL NEED YOUR UNIT IN VERY CLOSE PROXIMITY TO YOUR T.V., IN ORDER FOR THE GAMEPLAY TO NOT FEEL INCREDIBLY AWKWARD. :down:o

'GAMMY', I KNOW YOU WERE REALLY WANTING ME TO GET THE 'WII', BUT IF THIS IS TRUE, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE I'D PUT IT. WITH MY CURRENT SET UP, I WOULD NEED IT TO BE OFF TO THE SIDE, IN ONE OF MY GLASS CABINETS..........AND I DON'T THINK THAT WOULD WORK VERY WELL, WITH THIS CONTROL SCHEME.

IT'S FUNNY, I DON'T REMEMBER ANYONE EVER MENTIONING THIS BEFORE. IN FACT, ALL OF THE ADS AND DEMO TRAILERS HAVE SHOWN PEOPLE CLEARLY POINTING AT THE SCREEN, AND NOT THE CONSOLE ITSELF.

Ewww. There's no where around my Big Screen to put it, I'd have to aim at the floor. Pleeeeeaaase don't like this be true. :(

EXACTLY. I GUESS THIS IS JUST FURTHER PROOF THAT 'NINTENDO' ISN'T INTERESTED IN, OR READY FOR, THE "HD MOVEMENT". THEY'RE ALL PROBABLY STILL PLAYING ON 27" CRT UNITS IN JAPAN. :O

Touche?

But I really think this would kill the purchase for me, and that would suck, because it was looking so awesome. :(

LOL this changes nothing.

IF YOU KNEW WHAT MY SETUP WAS LIKE, YOU'D UNDERSTAND. IF YOU HAVE A SMALLISH T.V., YOU CAN GENERALLY KEEP YOUR CONSOLES, DVD PLAYER, ETC. IN VERY CLOSE PROXIMITY. BUT, WITH A HOME THEATER SETUP, YOUR COMPONENTS TEND TO BE SCATTERED AROUND THE PERIMETER, IN THE SURROUNDING CABINETS/SHELVES. RIGHT NOW, I'VE GOT MY DVD CAROUSEL, AUDIO/VIDEO PROCESSOR, AND SUBWOOFER, IN THE RIGHTHAND TOWER, AND MY DVR IN THE LEFTHAND CABINET. MY '360' IS DIRECTLY UNDER THE T.V., AS IT REQUIRES A CABINET OF IT'S OWN, FOR VENTILATION AND TO ALLOW ROOM FOR THE POWER SUPPLY, CORDS, ETC.
MY PROBLEM IS, I DON'T HAVE ANYWHERE LEFT FOR THE 'WII', EXCEPT FOR ABOVE OR BELOW MY DVR, IN THE LH CABINET........WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT PLACE FOR IT, UNTIL I READ THIS ARTICLE.

And it's not "Innovation", it's "Wiinnovation"

I STARTED TO USE THAT, BUT I FIGURED IT WAS PLAYED OUT BY NOW. :o

I was going to buy a Wii but this has made me reconsider. :( I still might get one and try to set it up at an angle to the side of my telly so it's almost as if I'm pointing directly at the screen.

Not everyone can put the Wii right above their TV...

Not everyone can put a shelf over their TV. And it's inconvenient since if you remember my setup everything is far off to the left on a seperate book shelf thing.

I know not EVERYONE can do it.
My point it, this is most likely a very easily solved problem.
Read between the lines people :(

Everything I've read about this said that Wii has a sensor bar that attaches to your TV so that you DO actually point the wiimote at the TV. Did anyone at E3 complain about not being able to aim at the TV? If this was the case, I'm sure much more would have been said about it on more than one website.

SO WHY DIDN'T THE GUYS AT 'UBISOFT' HAVE THIS IMPLEMENTED WHEN THEY SHOWED THE GAME? THEY LET SOMEONE DEMO THE GAMEPLAY, AND DIDN'T INFORM THEM OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT?

ALSO, I'M ASSUMING THIS "SENSOR" IS WIRELESS, OR THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS. :o

They forgot? It's still being worked on?

I'm guessing it'll be wireless EDIT: Or with a long cord, like "&" suggests.
Everything is wireless now :(

But your thread has been rendered useless now!

No, the sensor isn't wireless. But I believe Nintendo understands that many gamers won't be able to have there Wii right next to their TV and the cord for the sensor will be VERY long.
