Chastain isn't playing up a sex pot image though and has multiple Oscar nominations. And that's not a knock on Robbie, she's doing great but it's a different kind of great.
lol Comic speak. I definitely do not see them going after the same roles largely.Basically in comic speak, you won't see Robbie gearing up for someone like Carol Danvers, and you wont' see Chastain going for Harley Quinn.
Yep, Chastain is more comparable to Amy Adams because of the age she broke out and her prestige work.Yeah I think it's different too. Chastain's rise is also more unique because she's an "older" actress (by Hollywood standards). It's very rare to break out when you're not in your 20s and not being marketed as a sexy actress.
Exactly. Being known only as "the hot girl" is not helpful when you want a long term career. That is why a lot of actresses resist going too far down that rabbit hole if they can help it.She just needs to make sure she doesn't go the route of others where she's just known for being hot. There is a ****load of blonde british and aussie chicks in the game now and I can't tell some of them apart because they didn't do anything out of the ordinary.
every 6 months i need to slap myself to remember that Robbie is only 24. i dont know why but she looks like she is 28-30.

The Joker is in Suicide Squad and is being played by an Oscar winner, it's not a independent film. WB wants it to be a blockbuster. The difference is that Robbie actually seems to have legitimate acting talent. So she could probably transition into different types of roles as she gets older, should she stick around that long. And IDK if I'd classify Suicide Squad as necessary a "blockbuster" given it's premise/director. Speaking of which, this movie makes me think that we'll see the Harley/Deadshot weird-kind of romance from the comics transition to the movie as well.
I'm still blown away by how good Robbie was in WOWS. She definitely held her own against an already stellar cast. Her accent work there is excellent too.
I was just about to post this.![]()
Margot had her breakthrough in a Marty Scorsese film, where she held her own opposite Leo DiCaprio. She really is the complete package. She looks like a supermodel but also has raw acting talent.
It's the best out of the 3 "Long Island Blonde" characters we've seen that year (her, ScarJo in Don Jon and JLaw in American Hustle).

Terry makes a good point about flavor of the week blonde actresses. I remember thinking that Aussie chick from the first Transfomers to be cute and she completely disappeared as far as I can tell.
This looks really slick, led by two charismatic actors like in the old days before everything was an adaption of something with a built-in fan base.
this movie looks interesting. nice to see something "new"
