Will the real DR. DOOM please stand up...

guys im pretty sure Tempest knew that Vader was based off Doom when he posted that pic. i think he was just trying to say that Vader is closer to comic book Doom then movie Doom is

Visually, Doom looked very faithful to the comics in Rise Of The Silver Surfer.

I really didn't mind the whole organic metal/manipulating electricity aspect of the film version. However, it really should've been executed differently from the actual movie.

I like how they retconned his metal skin in RotSS.

What I'd like to see them do in FF3 is have Doom overthrow the Latverian government. Doom himself wouldn't be the villain of the film, but the way they've portrayed him, he's somewhat of a 5th main character. Chronicle his rise to power but have him largely stay out of the conflict until the end of the movie then have him sweep in and save the day as a way to try to humiliate Reed and gain international support for his rule.

Also, somewhat related, hopefully after the clash with Galactus, SS's powers aren't tied to his board anymore.

I didn't like it as much. Actually, here's what I didn't like: At the beginning of RotSS, he arrives in Latvaria, he gets to his castle, he's all disfigured, and I couldn't help thinking, "All right, now we're gonna have the real Doom!" And then the Surfer heals him (which I'm guessing was not what the Surfer was trying to do, but whatever), and we're back to Moviestar Von Doom.

PS. The electricity got old real quick

I haven't read much of the F4 comics, but I will say that Doom DEFINITELY should've been more menacing than he was on the two movies.

Thing is, stealing the Surfer's powers was a good plan, something that I'm pretty sure Doom did in the comics once. Problem is, that was his whole plan. He didn't seem to have thought about what would happen when Galactus actually did arrive to destroy the planet. Was he just going to fly off into space and let the earth be destroyed? Was he just gonna stay and get eaten? What if Galactus decided to make him his new herald? If there was more to the plan, like maybe following it up with stealing GALACTUS'S power as well (ala Secret Wars). Then the FF could foil THAT plan, thus saving Galactus from destruction, and in return Galactus would spare earth.

Watching this and SM3, I wondered if the writers were on their way to making good scripts, until the deadlines were moved up and the studio was just like "Okay, wrap it up. We'll shoot whatever you've got so far."

What issues from the comics have Doom and the FF in knock-down drag-out battle?
